I was wondering if they were welted, and if the construction was not so bad. The shape is just... shapeless.

Dude, have you held AE's? And you had a pair of these in hand? I'm sorry, though these weren't the worst Polo I've seen, the leather was not good, not even AE good. I'm fairly certain they were glued (don't have them with me and only looked at them for a second). There is zero chance they were goodyear welted.

No, you're right, the leather was more like Cole Haan, and I was just wondering out loud if it might go near AE because I saw stitching. I really do not trust my judgment on construction.

The Mansion really is a much nicer place to shop. I had the privilege of seeing the Purple Label looks on the mannequins there.
In admittedly limited dealings, I've found the folks in the Rodeo shop to be not-especially-knowledgeable, although pleasant enough in an annoying pointless sort of way.

Has anyone here returned or tried to return polo.com purchases to the RL stores in the Village or Soho? I'm trying to avoid a trip all the way uptown (that, and the Mansion's hours aren't really v. convenient).

Thanks!

Nope...I'm headed to the Mansion myself tomorrow for a return. I'll be there around lunch time if you want to meet up?

Thanks, Portnoy. It's kind of you and it would be nice to share the schlepp, but I work all the way downtown and have an 11 o'clock meeting tomorrow, so there's no way I'm going to make it up there at midday.

Since others seem to have used the downtown locations successfully, I'll probably just try that first. They seem to be open a little later anyway.

Returned to outlet , no issues.

I have an interesting story. I returned mine to the san francisco store and they were really apologetic about the whole situation. They actually offered me an even exchange for the suede "stanton" shoe, which is $550 and looks remarkably similar to the picture of the Corben shoe that was shown on polo.com (sans the purple label logo). I declined, because I really wanted my EGs and $300 is still $300, especially for blue label shoes. The Stanton is priced like the old Crocketts but is made in Italy (despite what is stated on polo.com). I wonder who makes them. In all, it was more than enough to eat my words about the staff there being annoying.

Yeah, those new Polo shoes are nice - channeled soles and some nice waists toos.

I returned mine via traditional post back to Polo.com

That's good service.

I think those are the shoes made in the Italian factory that does Gucci.

As the final nail in the coffin, C&J's store belatedly replied to me yesterday to say that they needed the last numbers inside the shoe to tell me more about the Corben.
