That would be me.
I had heard this news several weeks ago when I had a lengthy discussion with the Manager of the Mansion.
I had called him to complain that my trunk order shoes from February were still not in hand and he asked me to come in the store for an explanation and a make good on another purchase.
Basically, RL had 60 top-end customers who ordered shoes at the Feb show and did not get anything. They really aren't that concerned about the money per se, but potentially losing a group 60 high-value customers who special order $1000 shoes in a nightmare for them, especially through no fault of their own.
Edward Green had become an unreliable partner for them, much like they had for Louis, Boston, Paul Stuart, Oxxford etc. before Polo.
RL has sourced two potential replacements for the RLPL shoe business, both of whom (brace yourselves) are Italian factories. So much like the RLPL tailored clothing and haberdashery went from the UK (Chester Barrie and T&A) to Italy (Saint Andrews, Lorenzini and Altea), so will follow the footwear.
So my friends, snap up the RLPL EGs whilst you can, they are not long for this world.
