Anyone here play chess?

Thread Starter
I got into chess in the beginning of last year, and after reading up some theory and practicing I hit up a few tournaments at the Martial Chess Club in the village (I think that's where it is? I've only walked there), in NYC. I got my provision ranking somewhere in the 1400's and 1600's for blitz, but since going to college in rural Virginia I only home my game on chess.com where I'm like a 1350. Anyone else here play competitively/semi competitively? It was actually a pretty reliable way for me to make a few bucks as a high schooler because more often than not I walked out with more money than I walked in with. Are there any good clubs you recommend in DC that I could just drop into and a play a tournament in so I can finally not officially be "unrated"? Or does anyone here play on chess.com? I'd love to play against some of the people here. What play styles do you guys prefer? Anyone got a mean roy lopez? A strong english?

uschess.org would probably be a good place to start to find clubs/tournaments in your area. I had very good luck playing the english and the pirc as black in highschool. Haven't played much since then as I couldn't really get into internet chess. I really should get try to get back into playing.
