A bored Sunday afternoon...

So a pic in another thread inspired me. I did some thinking, and realized that I only regularly use two keys: my car key and apartment key. I wanted to do something unique and fun, yet utilitarian with them. I went to Target, picked up a small Leatherman, and went to work: Before(sorry for image quality): 3 hours, one cut thumb, some work with the dremel, a vice, a couple allen wrenches, a hammer and a center pick, here's the result: After(note, there's 1 key on each side): I now have a bottle opener, scissors, and 2 keys in a nice, compact Leatherman I can hang from my belt loop. And yes, I realize my thread title is grammatically confusing.

That's pretty cool.

It doesn't look odd hanging off of your ignition?

It wouldn't be too hard to take it back apart and shape another key. Unfortunately, this Leatherman can hold 2 keys tops so if for some reason I needed a third key I'd probably have to just throw it on a standard key chain.

that looks great, but you still got spare right? you might get pulled off the line with that key if you decide to board an airplane... (didn't someone's pop car key got confiscated a while ago?)

Yeah man, haha. I definitely used spares for this. Definitely gotta remember to take it off before going to airports.

I actually went with the leatherman because target didn't sell that kind of multitool.

thats actually a very nice idea... i personally also like the feeling of "creating" an accessory or pice of furniture/whatever with your own hands... it makes the final product a lot nicer and something very unique

that's cool. now go braid some rawhide shoelace, make your chain, attach some native american frou frou and sterling silver jewelry on it, and swipe some business off self edge.
