I have a few of those, and they look quite good. The Rubi version is, imo, pretty awful and garish.

From NSM? Until the Rubi example I've only seen them by Ambrosi.

Nope, from A&S and Welsh & Jefferies. A&S has an example on their apprentice's blog: http://www.anderson-sheppard.co.uk/thenotebook/a-new-trouser-design/

I agree, rubi's is too over the top, i think the shade of linen makes it look even worse

Rubi's aren't a simple pair of trousers with side adjusters, they're a Ghurka prototype, an unpolished one IMO. Here's their inspiration source:

I just realized I am making up the exact same casual suit/cloth with NSM that I just received from Graham Browne. Oh well, now I can easily compare the two makers. smile.gif I can only blame my own stupidity for not keeping track of what I have ordered. baldy[1].gifbiggrin.gif

That would be very nice on linen.

Yes, as you can only adjust from one buttoning point to the other, as opposed to adjusting in far smaller increments with side adjusters. However, if your weight barely fluctuates, then they both possess similar utility.

Understood - maybe it's just me, but how can your weight not fluctuate (during the day) in the NY summer??

I have no doubt that your weight may fluctuate by a pound or so given water retention, but unless you are dropping or gaining inches on your waist / hips, it'll hardly necessitate fiddling with your straps / daks tops.

Must be just me; I like playing with them.

X-posts from various threads, I guess these NSM outfits belong here too: bigstar[1].gif

The Napoli Su Misura Linen suits are a three-piece double breasted ivory in W. Bill Irish linen, the brown a three-piece single breasted. The waistcoats are slipped with slips the colour of the other suit, the buttons are identical on the suits.

Shirts by NSM - nubuck shoes by John Lobb, St james's

Theoretically this gives you the following possibilities:

1.Two-piece all brown
2.Three-piece all brown
3.Two-piece all ivory
4.Three-piece all ivory
5.Brown coat & ivory trousers
6. Ivory coat & brown trousers
7. Brown coat, brown vest & ivory trousers
8. Brown coat, ivory vest & brown trousers
9. Brown coat, ivory vest & ivory trousers
10.Ivory coat brown vest & brown trousers
11.Ivory coat, brown vest & ivory trousers
12.Ivory jacket, ivory vest & brown trousers

In an emergency you could even use the Ivory coat with a pair of black trousers for an unexpected black tie event,

As vertically challenged I'm partial to 9 and 10 as it optically elongates the look with the uninterrupted trouser/waistcoat colour.

I have to say my general rule is not to trust Italians to make vests but those don't look half bad.

My NsM flannel suit has a vest to it - it's a little snug at the moment due to recent gluttonous tour through Italy, but in normal times it looks great.

You might have to wait a few months...not exactly flannel weather in DC right now
