That fabric looks great.

When I met with them earlier this month, I was looking at herringbone fabrics for some potential projects; brown for a SC and black&white for an overcoat.

For the SC I liked these the best (300 g Ariston wool):



And for the overcoat I most liked the one below on the right (600 g Harrisons wool):



They didn't have the Loro Piana you got on hand. Do you recall the weight and whether it came in a black&white? Would you consider it appropriate for an overcoat?

MedTech had an overcoat made in a herringbone charcoal two pages back. I think that was black and gray. Not sure if they have a black and white.

Mine is overcoat weight. Not sure of the oz or grms. Perhaps email Mina?

I did catch MedTech's - nice but too dark for what I was planning. I'm not necessarily looking for something very warm/heavy and yours certainly look substantial enough for outerwear :-)

Psguy, the coat looks great from what I can see. Full shots would be great, I'd like to find that fabric just to handle it as I'm still in the market for brown herringbone.

If either of you find out from Mina what the LP fabric that is, please let me know as well.

Re: David Niven. The pic is probably from the 30s because
Niven re:joined the Brisitish Army at the outbreak of World War II.
He was actually a graduate of Sandhurst, the British equivalent of west Point

I've worn it twice and don't have any pics other than the little cell phone pic I took while riding into SF on BART. I'll get some shot next time I wear it and post here.

Before heading out into the cool fall air yesterday I asked my wife to snap a pic. Those of you familiar with Mina's work will see that this jacket is a bit more relaxed in the shoulder and a bit longer in length than the usual house cut. Those were specific requests by me due to the heavy weight of the fabric and my desire to have a more vintage fit combined with their modern details.

NSM is currently making some off-white/putty colored pants for this jacket in a cotton/cashmere blend. It picks up the background color in the jacket very well. In the meantime, when not wearing denim I also wear gray flannels and brown suede shoes with it. I'm thinking about picking up some cream colored corduroys for now.

I have found that the brown and putty color combination doesn't mix with most of my classic colored accessories. To look its best requires specific colors to compliment these earthy neutrals. I like that. It takes my wardrobe into different color directions than navy, gray, khaki.

Thanks. The denim is Levis LVC 551 ZXX from 2004. Probably the best denim Levis ever used on a LVC product. I will be heartbroken when they wear out because LVC just doesn't do this quality denim anymore.
