I've been lurking here for a while. There's a wealth of information so thanks to everyone for unknowingly assisting a newbie like me. I recently have been more keen on better fitting shirts. Like the rest of members here, I wanted a shirt that was designed to fit me at a reasonable price. However, instead of experimenting with body measurements at a online custom shirt site with the possibility of having to order multiple shirts to get it right, I went with J Hilburn. With their personal style advisors and 100% guarantee, I figured this to be the less expensive route to the perfect shirt. After my first J Hilburn shirt, I plan to send it to online sites for an exact match.
I went to (J Hilburn website) to find an advisor near me. I'm from San Francisco and there was a sufficient number. I e-mailed the closest one to set up the initial consultation. The initial meeting took two hours. We spent a lot of time going over my current wardrobe, my preferences and proceeded to choose the best color/pattern that would start as the base for my new wardrobe while still allowing me to integrate my existing wardrobe. I finally settled on a Guabello woven brown wool 120s "euro fit" pant ($179) and a Thomas Mason woven Green/Gray 50/1 English Check "slim fit" shirt ($99). Order placed 9/28, shipped 10/13. The brown wool pant is amazing. Without even knowing what a nice wool pant looks like, I can just tell these pants are very nice quality compared to my Calvin Klein, Trump, Ralph Lauren pants from Nordstrom. It looks wayyy nicer. The shirt, though it's 50/1, feels better than any dress shirt I own. I'm very happy with it.
As far as the fit, I'm extremely pleased with the euro fit pant. It fits real well though maybe a little too snug around the butt - my underwear lining shows. What to do... The shirt fit is great. Much improved compared to the fit of my current shirts. There's still some adjustments I'd like to make but I'm quite happy with the first attempt. I'll be sending the shirt back with some adjustments and it won't cost me a thing.
As far as what I think needs adjustment, I believe the sleeve and chest width could be shortened. I also think the armhole could be higher. Do you guys agree? Also, I notice lots of bunching towards the lower back, why does that happen? I made sure to fully pull down my shirt inside my pant.
Feel free to ask me any questions about my experience or comment about the fit.
