AJ can you FedEx some of that action to NY so I can try it? Yum
Happy Diwali to all our Hindu members........... AJ, I lived in Delhi for 2 years (2002-2004) and I vividly recall the sweet shops being overwhelmed during this time of year. I personally don't east sweets, but I'm a sucker for the spicy Gujarati items made during Diwali!
I went to an indian friend's house last year for diwali. I believe they hail from southern india (vegetarians, very little dairy in the food either). At any rate, of all the sweets my favorite were these sticky spiral things (like dough that had been rolled and then coiled into a spiral, then fried and covered in some kind of syrup). The syrup had bits of cardamom in it if I recall. Any clues as to what this is called?
