question re bootcut

why do shops always recommend bootcut for a slim person like me? aren't bootcut jeans slightly feminine? shops still seem deadset on selling them and i've even heard that they're the generally "jean of choice for most men" from a few stores. aren't straight cut pretty much the main jean of choice for men that suit every body type?

I would rather wear either slim/skinny or bootcut rather than a true straight.
