thick belts sizing doubt

Hello to everyone

If I am, for example using a belt which is 1/8 inches thick and measures 33 inches long without the buckle. And then I get a new belt with the same measurement but 1/4 inches thick like IH or tanner goods etc. would that belt fit me smaller because is thicker? I dont know if there is a way to calculate that
