Roy is a great guy doing great stuff!

I wrote to him asking if he'd custom make a tiny pair of his amazing jeans for me, and he took the time to write a really kind reply, saying he couldn't accommodate custom orders...

All the best jeans are guy's jeans...

Roy KS1002 "Kinda Special" Jean

Roy has done another run of the KS1002 jean which has now been restocked at all of our stores. We believe this is the best fitting jean he's done thus far, hence why it's been redone in a couple of different versions.

These are sure to go quick, check our online store for high-res images, a full specification list, and the size chart.

I looked at the measurements and advice on the self-edge website, but am still confused as to what size I should buy. I'm confused by the shrinking and the stretching of the unsanforized denim. I normally where a 33x30 in Levi's and a 32x30 in RRL jeans (this fits me perfectly). Should I get a 33 in Roy's? Any advice from current wearers?

You didn't make reference to WHICH Levi's fit you in size 33 they make many different models and fabrics. You also didn't mention which Roy's you're looking at either, although I'm guessing it's a KS 1002. You can control the fit a bit by the temperature of the water you soak them in. My experience is to go down one size from what is a comfortable fit in a "regular" pant like a chino. I typically wear 32's in most pants and I wear a 31 in my Roy's. the sizing advice on the website regarding shrink and stretch is quite accurate so you can measure out something you have and make the calculations. Just remember that some of the Roy's may have different rises than your jeans so you'll need to account for the waist being in a slightly different spot.

If you're a 33 in Levi's and a 32 in RRL you'd be a 34 in Roy's jeans. When you receive them they'll be quite large, about 1.5" too big in the waist. Turn them inside out and hot soak them in water for an hour then remove them and air dry them. Once they're completely dry they should fit well, and after about a week or two of wear they should fit you very well.

Roy "Big Brother" Round Two Jeans

Roy Slaper is back at it with a new jean made of a newly developed denim.

The new version of the Big Brother jean is a tweaked Big Bro fit with slightly more taper to the leg. Also, this version of the Big Bro has a plain back (no buckle-back).

The denim on these jeans is an all new 13.5oz loomstate denim which Roy designed from the ground up. Cone did not have or could not produce the selvedge id thread color so Roy had another company manufacture just the single thread that goes through the selvedge line and had the thread shipped to Cone to use on his denim. The warp yarns are made of a conventional American cotton while the weft is made of Supima cotton giving the fill threads an off-white caste. Supima is a longer staple cotton so we're thinking it will be less prone to stretching out and knee bagging.

The fabric for the pocket bags were also custom designed and produced for this jean. They're an undyed (natural) ring-ring 3x1 twill that is loomstate and will be cut in a way where it shrinks with the jean. The pocket bags are a 10oz 3x1 cotton twill which is 100% ring spun, undyed, and unsanforized.

We're really in love with the rear pocket shape, the exposed 2-prong tack and washer rivets, and the fabric. We don't believe we've seen a denim with this much character come out of Cone Mills before, the weave pattern is very unique and so is the shade of indigo.

These jeans will go on sale at Noon (local time) at all four Self Edge stores on Saturday, January 10th and at 9am (PST) in our online store on the same day.

Check the product page for full measurements, a full spec list, more info, and high-res photographs.

Roy "Roy Tapered" Modified Jeans - RT1002

Roy Slaper is back with a fresh batch of jeans.

This new release is a modified version of the "Big Bro" BB1002 jean. This version of the jean comes with traditional (and more common) back pocket shapes and riveting techniques. The fit is slightly different from past iterations of the Big Bro model, check the measurements for exact differences. The fabric on these jeans is a 13.5oz loomstate denim which Roy designed from the ground up. Cone did not have or could not produce the selvedge id thread color so Roy had another company manufacture just the single thread that goes through the selvedge line and had the thread shipped to Cone to use on his denim.

These jeans will go on sale on Saturday, March 28th at Noon (local time) at all four Self Edge stores and will also go on sale at 10am (PDT) on the same day in our online store.

The Roy "Big Bro" Baja Red Chambray Short Sleeve

Roy is back with his first shirt in over a year. The "Big Bro" Baja shirt is a red selvedge Japanese chambray done up in a simple short sleeved shirt with small details here and there, as you would expect a shirt made by Roy Slaper. The fabric is a medium weight chambray that has a small pattern to the weave which becomes more apparent after the first wash.

One of the details we personally love is the busted selvedge seam up the back of the shirt, over time you'll have jean-like train tracks running up your back. Also, Roy has this wild machine that's able to do a stitch that melts our minds, it's meant to be an invisible hemming machine but to us it looks like a crazy fabric perforator. He's used this machine to hem the front placket of the shirt which also hides the button backs from your body when the shirt is worn. Also, the gussetted side seams are done up with a selvedge ID accent.

This Roy shirt will be released at noon (local time) on Saturday August 1st at all four Self Edge stores. It will also be released at 9am (PDT) on the same day via our online store.

Roy Cotton Duck "Foreman" Pants

Roy is back with a pair of selvedge cotton duck Foreman pants . New fit, new details, new everything on this one. The fabric is a 10.5oz sanforized black-line selvedge fiber-dyed cotton duck woven in North Carolina. The pocket bags are amazing, we haven't seen this fabric used before. They're made of a dobby loom woven cotton made by Cone Mills. The branding is on the inside of these pants printed on a Pima cotton tag. The fit is designed in such a way where it can be worn sized up or down depending on how you want the pant to fit without it looking too slim or sloppy.

This Roy pant will be released at noon (local time) on Saturday September 19th at all four Self Edge stores. It will also be released at 9am (PDT) on the same day via our online store.

Roy Straight Leg Loomstate Jeans - RS05

A new year means new jeans from Roy!

This new release is a reworked version of the RS model from a couple of years ago. The fabric on these jeans is a 13.5oz loomstate denim which Roy designed from the ground up. How is the stretchability on this denim? After a soak, does it stretch past raw measurement?
