Quilted Jackets - Page 9

^ Excuse my naivete, but what are hacking pockets? I've googled, them, and from what I can see, they're just slit pockets with flaps on them; is that what you're talking about? If those are special, what's the norm on sport coats?

hacking pockets are those that are slanted. theyre easier to open (more ergonomic) while riding. they dont necessary have to be flapped.

they are a "sportier" feature so depends on the formality of what you want in your coat, fabric, etc

Okay, so just regular pockets that have slanted openings, as opposed to ones being parallel to the ground. Thanks!

No, the other way around

Feel the same way about hacking pockets too. peepwall[1].gif

You're right. Looking at the picture now, I see that it makes the center of my body flare out from the middle section down. Especially because the openings from the pockets point at the buttoned button. Not very flattering.

The Barbour Chelsea looks interesting but the UK website doesn't ship internationally. Any idea where I could buy this in the US?

Note that the link Bourbonbasted provided is for the flyweight. I'm too lazy to check if Orvis has the Polarquilt weight one.

Mine was bought in the UK. There are places like Barbourbymail that do ship to the U.S. I believe and it ends up being cheaper due to the exclusion of VAT.

I have no experience buying from Barbourbymail. Other people in the Barbour thread have also bought from countryattire (they do not deduct VAT).

I have this and love it... wearing today.

I'm still thinking about getting a lighter weight one like the chelsea because this one is definitely only for cold winter days (or if I still had a motorcycle)
