Called Chicago (will be there most of the rest of this week and next) and was told all suits besides the "basic" navy/charcoal/black and tuxedos, both of which are excluded. Are you saying that if I actually go in there I might get a different answer?

I don't even bother with these mid season sales. Most RL items make it to winter clearance and what doesn't ends up on Gilt or the B&S.

SA at the Mansion said all RLPL and shell cord shoes are excluded.

While this was DEFINITELY true in the past, this year your experience may be different. RL has taken a much more conservative approach to quantities of certain items--especially suits, sportcoats, etc. In some flagship stores, they may only have one or max two of a given suit in a given size. So unless you're an 36XS or some other less common size, you may find that your size will not be available at ultra-clearance time.

True, but I have had a fair bit of luck having the sales associate order my size from other stores if I find something I like.

How do you actually sign up for these private sales? that is, how do you get a sale code?

Just got back from the Mansion, pre-private sale must not have been widely publicized because the place was nearly empty from 11:30-12.

Shoes (all I was interested in) were a total bust. 2nd floor shoes are now all RLPL, incl Italian made, and are excluded from sale.

The "benchgrades" on the 3nd floor were almost all US made, except the shell cords (Marlow/Darlton/etc) which are also excluded from the sale.

The one good piece of news is that Grants are back in dark oak and black, but at $1,250 and no discount

To my knowledge, it is random. I don't think I've received one since either 2008 or from last year but they will still send me every other coupon/discount along with catalogs, etc...

Would love to hear what kind of discounts people are getting on RLBL suits.

I'm assuming this excludes RL outlets?
