MTV remake of Skins...

I don't know how many of you know the BBC show, but it looks like MTV has decided to do a version. And judging by the clips it seems to be a verbatim remake (storyline wise).

This was one of my guilty pleasures, and to be honest I could see an american version doing well, but it looks like they decided to keep the worst parts of the BBC version and add a 1/4 shot of 90210. Bummer..

The US just takes everything thats good and sucks the life out of it.

from the preview, I can already tell you that it will most likely be terrible.

Never saw the UK version, but this looks like crap. I have already seen Rules of Attraction.

Me neither aside from one minute clips while changing the channel.

It seemed to be jail bait soft p0rn about a bunch of irritating cawks. Come to mention it, I don't know why I didn't watch it

As great of an idea as an American Top Gear...

The original series was good for two seasons but I stopped like 3 eps into the third. American remake will blow, the series has such a regional Brit feel.

Whatever it is, it has some smoking hot ladies in it.

Old news. American version would never do well unless it was picked up by HBO/Showbox/etc. and I don't think most of their viewers would appreciate it. Can't have Skins without nudity and swearing, then it's just another shitty American TV show (also, a lot of the writing is done by the cast and I can't think of many starting American actors that can write worth shit) Skins is filming right now though, with a completely new cast (not even Kaya/Effy ) Edit: Wow, just watched the 2 videos. Words cannot describe how pitiful that is, it's a word for word ripoff from the original script with shittier acting, an uglier cast, and 500x more censoring.

bleck. needs drugs, boobs, and drum n' bass. And having just watched the clip, it needs a personality. British version had that certain spunk.

The casting looks like mirror images of the original cast, minus Jal's character losing some weight.

Should be quite a hit with the plebs. Bread and Circuses, you know.

That's what got me- I can see taking the general idea and characters, but most of that vid is a word for word, shot for shot remake. And it's even funnier that the cast is markedly less attractive. Not that the british version was amazing but the usual american approach would be decrease the depth and increase the sexy. Looks like here they just decided to decrease both.

Reviving thread because I started watching... I had seen random friends mentioning skins on facebook and sort of assumed it was some bad crap (from knowing other shows this guy has been into)...I had seen one funny clip from season 3 or something on youtube but didn't think much else of it. The other night, I was hanging out with some friends and we saw it on netflix streaming... Watched the first episode and it was by far the most I have laughed at a TV show in my recent memory... Finished the rest of the first season and it was a pretty heavy emotional roller coaster. Moments of hilarity followed by hits of "holy shit that sucks". Almost done with season 2 now (and since it is a british show, they have no issue finishing the storylines and replacing the cast so if the show starts to suck...I have a real ending instead of some show that is still following a bunch of high school students after they have graduated college). As to the MTV show: it sounds like the first episode follows the UK version almost exactly but that it diverges after that. The show seems like it still involves the original creators quite heavily so it could be good (except you know MTV will fuck it up). The only thing that could be interesting is that they are basically starting with the exact same characters but following them down different storylines. This could be interesting in an "alternate universe" sort of way...
