Club Monaco: Adventures in decent clothing and horrible marketing - Page 51

^ Yea I get the same thing. Their shirts used to fit me really well but now they are cut slimmer. Seems like they changed the slim fit cut starting with the summer madras. Now my normal size medium is a little too small for me. I'm not even that big at 6' 165 lbs. Their sweaters and coats still fit me well.

+1 on continuous lean being an SF poster

i hope the sales remain the same though cause I can't really justify CM unless it's like 50% off

I picked up a pair of light blue jeans from CM that I think first went on sale last summer? Just wondering if anyone has any information on this denim.

Really? From what I can remember the sleeves on most things I've tried on there have run long, not short. FWIW I have "average/normal(?)" length arms for my height.

Actually my one issue with their shirts would be the cuffs... they always fit loose around my wrists (which I can't remember happening with any other shirts I've had - BoO, Gitman, TB, Jcrew, etc...)

Edit- unless things have really changed since summer... I've only tried on a couple knits/jackets from the fall stuff, haven't tried on any of the fall slim shirts

After reading this thread I learned a few things about CM:

- I am glad I am Asian

- Because I look young bring my old student ID with me

- SF Approved.

On a serious note though. I went here last week to try on some clothes. I really like the fit but I guess I don't understand how to wear the clothes. All I own are suits and jeans. Anyone wanna give me some advice on how to wear the CM slim fit chinos?

Thanks

I think its just because it is something new and different for me so I am having a hard time grasping it. Its okay i'll go back and try on some more things!

I've used my wife's student ID several times now. Neither of us are close to being in college.

I just proudly present the card to the SA and never had any issues.

I suspect if they question it, I'll say something like..."Well, I won't buy it without the discount". I assume they work on commission...and wouldn't really mind hitting that discount button to ensure a sale...

It's like a small oasis in the sartorial wasteland known as Toronto. That peacoat fits way better than the slim Schott I tried on too. Was tempted.. oh so tempted. shog[1].gif

Sartorial Wasteland? Try setting foot outside of a mall sometime.

Nomad, Sydneys, Uncle Otis, TNT Man, Holt Renfrew, Lost and Found, Woodlawn, Klaxon Howl, Dutil, Robber, Ruins, Jonathan and Olivia, etc...Hell, even the Bay carries Surface to Air, BoO, MMM, Steven Alan, Save Khaki, DRKSHDW, etc...

Which Bay location is that? I'm intrigued.
The Eaton Centre one -- second floor right across from the Top Shop area. The stuff also goes on regular Bay discounts too. Right now I believe a lot of it is 30 percent off. They also carry Oliver Spencer, klaxon Howl, Kin, Opening Ceremony, Dunderdon and some other brands I can't recall right now.

What's the price of the peacoat (in Canada)?

Toronto has definitely stepped up it's game. Most apparent if you live DT imo. It was pretty bad just 5 years back but thanks to the internets it seemed menswear in TO has gotten a lot better.

I think the same can be said for pretty much everywhere. Regardless, to call it a 'sartorial wasteland' is either ignorance or being entirely misinformed. Even on my short commute home I pass 5 places that carry SF approved brands. The stores are nice too. Dutil has some of the nicest salespeople I've encountered. The new Klaxon Howl spot looks great. Nomad as always is fantastic, both locations. Lost and Found on Dundas is honestly home to the nicest people you'll ever meet and they're relatively new but they've built up some really good inventory, including some exclusives. They also make awesome coffee and have amazing custom donuts on the weekend.

I think the guy who called it a sartorial wasteland was just trying to sound jaded and worldly with the cynicism to score some e-points.

I found an old article on Lost and Found that said that they were planning on carrying Uniqlo. The article was from a few months back, did anything become of it?
