Sony to stop making Walkmans...

For those of us of a certain age, this article will have special relevance. I still have mine (a 16-year-old black and yellow sport walkman), and a pile of cassettes, and use it whenever I walk the dog.

I didn't realize they still made them. They were the bee's knees back in the day. I had to save up a whole summer's worth of lawn mowing money to get one but it was so worth it. Auto-reverse FTW.

This function saved me upward of 8 seconds of fumbling and bumblilng around with my cassette player while in a full sprint work out.

Mostly true story, I was making out with and feeling up a mildly attractive girl with low self-esteem in the park and I had Automatic for the People playing on my walkman with those obnoxious satellite speakers that sounded terrible. Well, Sweetness Follows was just ending, but rather than have to stop in flagrante delicto which would have surely ruined the mood, that Auto-reverse kicked in and started playing Monty got a Raw Deal and the faux-love making continued. So awesome.

She eventually dumped me by claiming I cheated on her with her best friend, which I did, but whattyagonna do, I was young and hormones were raging and such.

Most companies still made VCR until a few years ago too. There is always a market for these things somewhere in the world.
