What to do about dry hair?

So I go to school in NYC but live in Arizona so its quite a change. I want recommendations for a good shampoo/conditioner. I currently have medium length hair and use bumble and bumble for wax/cream and shampoo/conditioner. But no matter what I use, my hair gets flaky and itchy if i don't wash everyday. For example, if i use product, sleep, and don't wash my hair, it will be flaky that day. I have used bumble bumble products, american crew, and paul mitchell tea tree. I think the best was paul mitchel but i need something that will keep my hair hydrated as the flaky stuff is quite annoying. Any recommendations here?

Don't go to sleep with product in your hair. Wash your hair in the morning. Leaving product in your hair overnight is terrible for it. Your hair can't breathe.

Not mention that all that goo and gunk gets onto your pillows and then your face is on it the entire night. By chance do you have bad complexion too?

You may also have a dandruff problem. Try using anti-dandruff shampoo.

Water is fine And a Dandruff Shampoo is a great idea. The one that truly works is called Nizoral. It'll run you around $14. You'll need to shampoo with it every other day the first week, then once a week for maintenance. Don't try to save $ with Head and Shoulders or similar. Get the Nizoral. You'll need a conditioner after washing your hair with it - any of the Aussie or Pantene products will be fine if you don't want to spend a lot. There's one that's amazing - GO24/7 Menthol Conditioner. $16 but it's the greatest cooling feeling on your scalp every time you use it. Scalp euphoria and great conditioner. My hair stylist turned me on to it. http://www.go247men.com/products/conditioner http://www.walmart.com/ip/Nizoral-An...ampoo/10294221

hmm i think i might just get the paul mitchell tea tree oil ones again and see if they work. or if i get the nizoral, should i get the bumble and bumble conditioner to use if its better quality?

Use Head and Shoulders "Dry Scalp" formula.

The Bumble conditioner is fine, but see the addendum I mentioned above about GO24/7. The stuff is amazing. Get the Nizoral if you heed any of the advice. It contains the only antifungal product created to attack the cause of the dandruff. Let the shampoo lather up and have it sit on your scalp for 2 minutes before rinsing off. After 2-3 uses your dandruff/itching will be gone and you'll only need to use it once in a while to maintain your scalp.

ok thanks guys.

so if i use product in the AM, then at night, its ok just to wash with water? what if all the product does not come out? I don't want to shampoo at night and in morning because people say shampoo every other day etc.

You can rinse your hair with warm (not hot) water, then add a small amount (like the size of a small coin) of conditioner to your hair. This will help the product you had in your hair to "slip off" the hair shaft. Then rinse once more and you're good. Edit: Just e-mailed a friend who is a hair stylist. She said that a product called Hair One Cleansing Conditioner will also remove styling product without the traditional shampoo process. This stuff won't strip the natural oil from your hair. 8-12 pumps each time you apply it. http://www.sallybeauty.com/cleansing...efault,pd.html

Id also recommend bumble and bumble deeeep conditioning treatment about once a week. I use it every Sunday and absolutely love it.

wash them less often with only small amounts of shampoo (or buy Kiehl's amino acid shampoo)
