hello sf,

just bought a jil sander suit off yoox to use for work. i know bespoke is better etc etc but my budget was limited for this purchase.

anyways, the suit arrived and i'm relatively pleased - however - one major problem, it has buttonless cuffs.

does anyone know if it is advisable to have these types of cuffs shortened? also, anyone know if i could add buttons..i'm assuming a good tailor could do so, but i'm not sure..

EDIT:**pics attached
thanks!

Usually you have buttons added when the sleeves are adjusted.

None in the pocket?

Get to a good tailor and have the sleeves fitted. They should then be able to add buttons. You can get functioning button holes as well since you're starting from scratch.

Depends - but since you're on a budget just have 3 sewn on.

You might have to get the buttons on the front of the jacket changed as well, so they match.

My thoughts too. Lots of Jil Sander jackets have no cuff buttons and it wouldn't surprise me if this ran to the suits too.

Now, check that you have a breast pocket...

My guess would be it is indeed a buttonless jacket...if so, no need to attach anything that the designer did not intend...unless a buttonless sleeve would look weird in your working environment

Go with the designer's vision on this. Jil Sander has a lewk that is still hawt.

liking this suggestion. yes, would have to change the buttons on the front of the jacket as well..
there were no buttons mailed with the jacket, so perhaps this is jils vision for the jacket. i also have a j+ overcoat from uniqlo, and that jacket has the same cuff, and no buttons were in that jacket either

i respect that jil\\s vision for the jacket is to be buttonless..but for work i'd prefer to have buttons.

thanks for the good suggestions
