Ok, I give up: Why is Kiton so expensive?

Because people will pay it.

I am pretty sure most people will agree their shoes are overpriced as you can get quality bespoke for the same.

Because buyers are willing to pay the price -- something is worth what someone else is willing to pay.

The same reason anything costs what it costs: They can charge that amount and people will pay it.

I like their stuff for sure, but I'll add to this discussion. I was in a Saks Off Fifth in Minneapolis last week, and saw a pair of suede Kiton Desert Boots that retailed at $3,499! Marked down to about $1,600. What gives? Would anybody pay that much retail for a pair of RTW Suede Desert Boots?

Like other things, it represents a high quality brand name to some.

They make a fabulous Dad jean, even better than the one from Rubinacci.

It's made for fat executive types, who'd rather pay more for their stuff.

Correction: They'd rather you not have a chance of being able to afford something remotely close to what he's wearing.

Have they one-upped Lobb on overpriced boat shoes? And what about those high-dollar sneaker-dress shoe chimeras Soph enjoyed? I hope they're not missing out on that lucrative market.

So Kiton is elitist? Not that there's anything wrong with that.
