The Armoury - Official Affiliate Thread - Page 109

This conversation is officially over. Its impolite to have in this AV thread, and really anywhere if you ask me. It is no ones business what transpired other than that Ethan is moving on.

Obviously offers have value figures attaches to them, that translate to to dollars, and I think everyone from about age 5 is told that its rude to ask people about their salaries and such. And that is one on one, let alone in public.

Again, this conversation is over. If anyone is still curious about what RL offered Ethan to leave, or any other details of his departure, try emailing Ethan, RL, or Mark. Let me know how that works out.

He would disagree about the last part

also, "perhaps it was creative or professional growth opportunities" implies that the armory is lacking in these areas, and is rude, or just poor manners.

you can ask in PM. or start your own thread about it. just not here.

Guys, I appreciate the support, but when a mod says a convo is over, its over.

Lets talk about awesome Armoury swag instead! Have you seen the gator St Crispins? Or the Orazio suits? Or the Ring Jacket ish? Hot fire, ya'll!

I'm sorry I responded to the query by Phillycheese! I guess I foolishly underestimated people's desire for personal information, but then I suppose such curiosity is just part of human nature.

Anyway, to get things back on topic, I was rather sad when The Armoury stopped carrying RO Bags, but I just noticed that they're now carrying Frank Clegg bags:

On that note, I'll write a little about my recent experience with The Armoury in HK:

I'd been eyeing those Ring Jacket A-1 blousons for quite some time now but had been holding off because they never had my size and it's also a fair chunk of change to drop on a casual non-leather jacket. Recently, though, they had some in my size - Alan was a great help in sorting out my size. I finally thought 'enough is enough', bit the bullet and put in my order for a one in navy like this one:

All went well until it went to Paypal to close the transaction - the connection dropped and I couldn't make the payment!

Naturally, I just went back to the website to re-order but lo and behold, my size was gone - it had been taken off when I 'bought' it and not added back in when the Paypal side of things failed.

I was getting desperate at this stage and just called the store in Hong Kong. Joey took my call and was very helpful in checking that the stock was indeed still there and that it was the colour I wanted (she even sent me a photo). I sent them the payment via Paypal and all was good in the world.

I called them on Friday, Joey posted it on the Saturday and by the following Tuesday, I had the jacket with me in Australia!

The jacket itself is great - thick and warm but light. The wool is a little scratchy so I would wear something long sleeved underneath. It fits really well and I'm very happy with it. We're still in the middle of winter over here so I'll have quite a few more weeks of wear before I'll need to put it away.

FWIW, I wear size 38 or 40 jackets and took an L in the A-1. The M would have been too tight for my liking.

When you're buying something from overseas, you need to be dealing with people you can trust and I would have no hesitation whatsoever if I were to buy anything from them in future.

Sad to see him go, but I'm very excited to see what Ethan can do for RLPL.

Jeff, y'all carrying more of Ring Jacket's A-1 blouson this F/W? The brown herringbone is my favorite and I'd love for something similar.

Absolutely, we will still be carrying the A-1's this F/W and we will have the basics that we had last year as well as a patterned version as well, which I won't comment on now, I'll just shoot up a picture when it comes in!

Very nice, I like!

I haven't seen many pictures of the Ring Jacket A-1 jackets being worn so I thought I would put some up at http://gezzasmenswear.tumblr.com/post/94895743177/my-new-ring-jacket-a-1-this-blouson-by-ring

Great Gerry!

Thank you!

Great write ups and pictures, @Gerry Nelson

I've recently become enamored with the Ring Jacket A1 as well and can't wait for the F/W '14 line to come in. I need a light brown/light grey herringbone/houndstooth similar to the ones from years past.

Quick question: what are the waist and bottom measurements on the XL and XXL?

Thank you very much @MGoCrimson. Glad you enjoyed them.

Jeff,

Couple questions about the U-Tip fox suede shoe that Mark posted on the tumblr (http://thearmoury.tumblr.com/image/95501734120):

1. Would I take the same size in the modified Rain as I would in the standard Rain?

2. What sizes are available in this shoe?

3. I'm assuming fox is lighter and a bit redder than snuff?

4. What would the damage be on these?

5. Mark called it a derby on tumblr, but isn't this an oxford (looks sort of adelaide-ish).

Thanks!

Eric

And one more I forgot:

6. What is the sole? Leather or Dainite?

Thanks again!

Eric
