They are on the Robert last which I haven't tried yet. My other Carmina's are simpson lasted but Derbies not oxfords. I think a simpson last Oxford would be a bit snug with the closed lacing.

Makes sense. One of the guys at American Tailors over here told me I should go up half a size from my C&J size if I was getting a monk in the Simpson, i.e I wear a UK9.5 in C&J and I should get a UK10 in Carmina on the Simpson.

Yeah that's about right I reckon too, the Carmina's in general run slightly smaller than most english brands I've found. Not a bad thing in my opinion as I'm sick of elongated clown feet sleek lasts. I like the Carmina lasts because they are sleeker, elegant but achieve it without being too elongated.

I use 6.5 UK in both Loake and Herring shoes, but 7 UK in Carmina, and 7 in C&J too.

Concerning the Jodhpurs, we actually had one sample in a stunning blue leather once which got snapped up!

Are these Carmina and if so, can they be made through MTO in that colour?

Inca - Widest last and waist for wide feet (EE width)
Rain - Like the Inca but with a chisel toe (EE width)
Soller - A boot last like Robert, fits like a double E.
Forest - Standard width with round toe (E width)
Uetam - Similar to Forest but a shade narrower (E width)
Robert - Like the Simpson but more room in the toe box (E width)
Queen - an E width, similar to Alcudia but shorter
Alcudia - Like the Simpson but with Almond toe (E width)
Simpson - Narrow with chiseled toe, extended toe box (E width)

Why would Alcudia and Simpson be considered E width?

Great write-up. Thanks for sharing.

How far down did you size from your normal US size for the Carmina Simpson last?
Well written article! Agreed on everything there.
How are they compared to C&J Lowndes?

I think I'll echo most of what people have said here, but it depends on what brands you're used to. I wear an 8.5 in most Allen Edmonds laceups (Weybridge & Strand) and an 8 in slip-ons (Lucca).  I wear a 7.5 in Alden's Barrie last (It should be mentioned that I like my shoes on the tighter side so I could fit in an 8).

Ethan and I decided to go a full size down to a 7.5 UK.  Since the instep on the double monk is high we agreed not to go any lower and I'm glad I didn't because they wouldn't have fit.  I will say, if you're used to wearing an America made shoe like AE and Alden, the Simpson last will definitely be tighter in the toe box.  My suggestion would be to go down a full size if you have narrow to normal feet or a 1/2 size down if you have a slightly larger width.  Either way it's a gamble, but the guys at The Armoury offer great assistance at finding the right size.

Just landed, thanks guys -

The Robert last that these are on is a really nice, elegant last with a bit more width than my Simpson lasted Derbies, which are not too tight by any means but may be a bit snug on me in an oxford.
