I have a pair of the Simpson last DM's and I use The Armoury brand shoes trees.  I'm not sure who makes them but they work well enough.  The width seems to reach down to the end of the toebox and, most importantly, the trees reach a bit higher on the vamp which I think is important on the double monks since it helps maintain the shape of that area close to your ankle.

Is that a fact? I think it's easy for a lot of us here to forget that SF is just SF, and the internet is *just* the internet.
This is still a very insular community. I doubt very much that this thread is what is keeping The Armoury afloat, or out of the red.
It would be great if more of us supported, but we need to remember they are a physical brick and mortar with physical customers who walk through their doors everyday.

and re: asking for hookups, i think anyone who has been involved with a small-business can attest to the frustrations of friends/family members wanting hook ups. I think because many of us saw the armoury 'grow' on SF, we consider them family in a sense. That mindset can easily lend itself to over familiarity. aka the "can you hook a brother up" way of thinking.

we need to remember that like many SF affiliates, because this is a relatively small business, they probably can't afford to offer discounts to every friend they've met on SF over the years.
Let's just be glad they're around to offer such great merchandise.

As stated above, ultimately "the price is the price."

no offense intended, i like discounts too.
i'm just saying.

Not to worry, I'm an 11-11.5UK. What trees do you use for your Carmina Simpson captoes? I can't seem to find any on the Carmina or Armoury websites.

Homie........let's be mad clear about one thing: they are a business like all others. There are no facts, just educated guesses.......I'm not privy to their balance sheet.

SF does not keep them afloat, however they'd be playing themselves if they didn't acknowledge the business from this community.

They can surely afford to offer discounts..............as evidence from my exchanges of PMs with Mark. Something changed along the way and now they just refuse to do so.

Just a standard Woodlore, nothing fancy.

The elite nordstrom shoe trees. Yes I'm a baller.

In other news, I have a Ro large briefcase in Cognac on the way from HK as we speak! Ethan went out of his way to snap some pictures of the interior prior to purchase allowing me to make an informed decision. Will post pix when it arrives!

I don't understand your snark, but perhaps you are mislead as well.

My point is that they are a business like everyone else - why do people act like they are the second coming of Christ?

Now, let's get this thread back on track............

I'd like to know what if anything you've purchased from them. Also, why you are posting in ITT.

Edit: nvm. A quick search of your posts reveal that you are only looking to get things a cheaply as possible and aren't the least bit interested in supporting entrepreneurial fellow members.

Anyone else feel like the Nackymade frames are an inside joke? They are all hideous in my opinion. The Armoury have a great selection of products demonstrating fine taste, but their selection of eyewear boggles my mind.

I probably shouldn't but I'm gonna go ahead and put this out there for teh leeches:

The dudes at Teh Armoury have been nothing but gracious to me online, in person and on here. At least one of the owners been an integral part of this forum and has posted pics of himself and has contributed in a great way, which led me to place orders with them virtually sight unseen. Also, the help that I have received via PMs has attributed to my purchases. No doubt other members who have taken the plunge have experienced similar treatment.

Then, out of the blue, said member contacted me and sent a gift. Did I deserve it? No. Was it a great show of gratitude? Most def.

The same member, whence in my neck of the woods invited me out for drinks and cigars. I went and had a great time. Did this need to be done? No. Was it? Yes.

Never has another member/seller exhibited the kind of graciousness to me in this regard (save, Chay Cooper at AS who is another excellent example).

So for you who are asking about discounts and such, STFU and take your biz elsewhere if need be. These gents are offering quality goods at a more than fair price (shipping included). If you like what they're offering, go ahead and purchase.

Also, disclosing what has transpired via PM is in poor taste and a testament to the character or the members who have done so in an ill attempt.

I am not a spokesman for Teh Armoury but a friend of them and have nothing but good to report. If you don't like it, go elsewhere.

Trust.

I agree, I've never bought anything from the Armoury but have emailed them several times inquiring about particular products and have always received timely, helpful and gracious emails in return.

I honestly didn't mean to create a shit storm with my question, I was curious since so many of you guys buy from them. After experiencing their wonderful customer service, I understand why!

I really think we need to get this thread back on track!!

I'd like to add that I was planning on ordering Simpson captoes, but as they were out Allan redirected me to the Robert last, provided pictures and advice, and was overall super helpful. Many thanks to him and Ethan for also being polite even as I badgered them.

However, a slightly related question that doesn't seem to work elsewhere: the shoes were shipped on December 13, and the USPS tracking is showing them as "processed through the sort facility" but nothing more, and hasn't changed since the 13th. Anyone else been getting long delays on packages? I'm sitting here and salivating by the front door, but I have no idea if the package has run into trouble, or if this is standard.

My timing on shoe order:

Ordered pair on 16th
Shipped 17th (saturday) HK Post
Arrived 20
Wore 21st
Ordering 2 shoe 22nd

Needless to say the shoes are fantastic, which I was pretty sure was going to be the case. The fit, happens to be one of my best if not the best that I have.

About the guys at the Armoury... Anyone that has spent any time on SF knows they are first class.
