Disagree about the pant waist. Trouser waists are decided by the designer of the pants and you're stuck. Traditional suit trousers should be *at* the navel, not below. Jeans should be lower. Calvin Klein designers all of his pants to have a very low rise, which looks great on me because I'm skinny. Jeans should be lower-rise than other pants. THings I *HATE*: - Clothes that DON'T FIT... BUY CLOTHES THAT FIT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD - pants that are too short - capri pants are for WOMEN. - white gym socks with an otherwise business casual outfit. Grow up. - shirt sleeves that are too short. - little stains that the wearer doesn't care about. It looks sloppy. Go to a drycleaner. - unshined shoes.

A pet peeve - spread collar dress shirt with a big white t-shirt underneath.

#1 Too big suits. Especially Africans here are guilty of this, but I think it must be that they're used to really hot places where roomy clothes can keep you cooler. Many of them are also quite poor so they've probably picked up their clothes from a thrift store, thus not much chance for sizing. But for anyone else it's nothing but not knowing how to get something in a proper size. Over here people also seem to be blissfully unawere that suits come in other colors than black. I blame a few of the cheap suit chains over here for that, because they sell nothing but black. Black polyester that is. #2 Crappy shoes. Again, stores are to blame because there are only a few tiny stores that sell good dress shoes in Finland. Even for something like sneakers people seem to choose those hideous modern running shoes. At least young people generally choose somewhat representable sneakers although many wear just one pair until it is destroyed and never bother to clean them.

That's my #1 gripe.

That's my #2 gripe. Nearly every guy I know believes that if he puts on a jacket and tie he automatically looks "dressed up." No one I know personally feels the need to tailor any articles of clothing, and so they all end up looking dumpy while thinking they look sharp.

And my #3 gripe is guys wearing cell phones, PDAs, and Bluetooth headsets as alpha-male accessories.

You mean a cell phone holster/belt clip isn't cool?

well it deserves a comeback : ) 1) Shirt untucked and loose tie 2) Rolled up shirt sleeves 3) Rubber soles 4) Matching PS and tie 5) Extremely cheap contrast collar shirts 6) Zara 7) Logo dress shirts with suits (think polo) 8) Monogram on the cuffs of dress shirts of extremely tacky people 9) Windsor tie knots that look like a big potato 10) White socks with suit 11) Not matching leather accessories 12) Button down shirts with dress suits (I actually like the look sometimes, look at that Rubinstein guy from Carlyle) 13) Brooks brothers (I'm sorry. I tried to like them. I even bought a shirt and a tie which I hate) 14) Louis Vuitton (and fakes) 15) Armani Exchange 16) Polyester and other synthetic materials (like elastane)

I work in finance so I see a lot of the following:

i) People with ill fitting suits (shoulders too big, chest too loose, etc etc)
ii) Walking around with all buttons done, or none done
iii) Windsor knot
iv) Solid black suits (mostly interns)
v) Huge billowing shirts that could double as parachutes

#1 wearing suits when nobody else is.
