job opportunities seem worse now - Page 2

I been looking for work recently and have gone to several interviews, but management has been clueless, so I been declining jobs. Not going to take a job that I know I will end up hating pretty quickly because of the people in charge.

I'm easily in the top 20% in my field, but have been trying to switch careers. It's been brutal.

What I'm finding is that, in my field at least, full time jobs are not as in demand. But the work has to get done, so companies are far more interested in consulting offers.

Pick up a part time while you're hunting down that career job. Seasonal hirings should be picking up around this time.

I got my first job as an attorney last week. It is such a relief to be working. Networking (aka calling in favors for interviews and recommendations) did the trick for me. I know when I'm 75 and talking to my grandchildren, I will always relay to them how difficult the job market was when I graduated from law school in 2010.

Funny isn't it? I've been to many interviews before where I just start talking to them and want to walk out 30 seconds later.. Of course courtesy keeps me there, but I would never ever work for/with those peeps.
