yes because if there is one thing the yankees are known for, it's shitting in their pants in the playoffs.

edit: here is Lee's record against the yanks up to 2009. Not bad but not pants shitting scary either:

2009 - 2 G, 1-1 record, 3.00 ERA, 12 IP, 16 H, 5 BB, 1 HR, 9 K's, 1.75 WHIP.
2008 - 1 G, 1-0 record, 0.00 ERA, 7 IP, 6 H, 0 BB, 0 HR, 7 K's, 0.86 WHIP.
2007 - Did not face Yankees
2006 - 2 G, 1-1 record, 4.97 ERA, 12.2 IP, 15 H, 3 BB, 4 HR, 5 K's, 1.42 WHIP.
2005 - 2 G, 1-1 record, 6.39 ERA, 12.2 IP, 14 H, 5 BB, 1 HR, 11 K's, 1.50 WHIP.
2004 - 1 G, 0-1 record, 10.57 ERA, 7.2 IP, 11 H, 5 BB, 2 HR, 7 K's, 2.09 WHIP.

^That play is the first thing that comes to mind whenever I think of Cliff Lee.

Wish him all the success in the world (unless the Rangers meet the Phils in the Series).

Sorry, just getting nostalgic over here. Don't mind me.

On the other end of Cliff Lee are both Rich Harden and Ian Snell who will be FA during the winter break. Both were hyped as the next big thing. Too bad to see Snell fall so low./

Well, yeah...

Some good news re: the Cliff Lee trade - the cocaine charges against Gillies were dropped!

I think that everyone here in Texas is pretty realistic about the chances of keeping Cliff for next season, but right now the attitude is that we'll worry about that when the time comes. In the meantime we're just enjoying finally having a true #1 starter for the first time since perhaps Nolan Ryan was here. It's even arguable that Nolan was past his prime by the time he got to Texas, although he did fire a couple more no-hitters after he got here, so... Interesting points on last nights game: A. In their history, the Rays had never given up a run on a runner scoring from 2nd on an infield grounder. Last night they gave up 2 (Andrus in the 1st and Guerrero later...6th maybe?). B. It was the first time in the history of baseball that a team scored two runs from 2nd on infield grounders in the same game in the playoffs. C. On the Guerrero play (keep in mind Guerrero is one of the slowest base runners out there), the Rays made four mistakes (three by Price) that allowed Guerrero to score: 1. Price was late in breaking to cover first. 2. Because he was late getting to the bag, he had trouble catching the ball and finding the bag with his foot (ultimately he never touched the bag, which is why Kinsler was safe at first). 3. Price argues the call at first and is late in throwing home to stop Guerrero. 4. The catcher (who only has one job on the play), rather than covering the plate is about 6 feet up the first base line, so that when he catches the ball he has to dive back toward the plate to get Guerrero. Had any one of those mistakes not been made, or if Guerrero observes the stop sign at 3rd, he doesn't score.

These last three games are as good as any post season stretch, EVER. Unbelievable. 34 K and 1 BB.
