Aftermath of hosting my first BBQ contest

I threw a BBQ contest over the weekend. 18 teams showed up on Sunday and competed in Appetizers, Pork Steaks (A st. Louis thing), and Ribs.

I have a bunch of pictures up and the final scores listed. There was a scoring error that I had to own up to today. Didn't change who got hardware and the top scores in all the categories, but it impacted the rest...

Here's the link

Well, not everyone dreams of wearing Tom Ford, is built for it, or cares.

And GrillinFool ( Whose posts are in Social Life, Food & Drink, Travel ) has some great posts with pictures.

Keep on grillin, Fool Congrats on your contest.

To those concerned with the photos, is this a little better:

he's just jealous that at 110lbs, he just can't eat enough BBQ to be a judge (not that he would want to get sauce on his fancy schmancy clothes).

This reminds me of the guys busting my balls for my uncle and cousin wearing seinfeld jeans when out fishing rather than a pair of flat front chinos from Nordstrom's. It's called perspective. The event focused around grillin up some fine pork products not sushi rolling. And brother, it was some fine pork indeed!! What a great time. The promotional girls are on board for next year. So are most of the teams. With more lead time, I'm going to expand the event next year.

Not for me. I think I had two ribs all day, a steak sammy, an apple and a banana. And it was a ton of work. Like two of us moving about 40 picnic tables. The big, industrial type ones with the thick metal piping and solid ply wood. I'm hoping that next year I will have more time to walk around and sample.

But I guarantee, there was some serious eating going on that day.

Dude, I only say this because I love but...you gotta do better with those promotional girls. Seriously. PM me for my consultancy rates. I may even work pro bono on this one.

Two of them are smashable. Edina - it's a bbq contest held in the man's backyard. Loosen up a little, SFieldina.

Wish I were there, Grillin', would've eaten ya'll under the table.

Congrats on the contest. You sound in remarkably good spirits after all the work that had to happen.
