do you consider frat kids fashionable? - Page 2

thanks To Another New Yorker. i dont know if anybody  who responded to this post still checks this website, but i wanted to give my opinion. i go to the number  party school in the nation, the number 2 school with the best greek system, and my school is the number one tail gate destination in the nation. No real fraternity would ever wear cargo shorts. they never wear puka shells, or any brand that starts with a letter A ex. american Eagele Aeropostal or Abercrombie. If u want to look the part, wear polo brooks brothers , southern tide. cost, or vinyard vines.

US News has truly infected the culture, when people start putting importance on things like numerically ranking a school's frat system, tailgate destination quotient, and "party school" ranking. These things are not meaningfully quantifiable people.

Don't know about "frat kids", don't think I've ever seen any, presumably this is a US thing. But the kids in our school and college are always keen to be extremely fashionable. Nearly always cheap poorly made stuff though.

You guys mean frat boys on the east coast in at least semi-prestigious schools right? All the frat boys I've seen or known wear t shirts and jeans and cargo shorts....

I'm surprised people have answers that go above "god no."

I think it really depends on the area of the country, and the college/university in question. Many can look fashionable, but too many subscribe to the AE, Aero, Hollister etc. "uniform".

My stepson was active in Kappa Sigma up until a couple of years ago. For daywear they dressed much as other students at Cal State Long Beach: hoodies, sneakers, jeans, shorts, T-shirts, etc. For "formal" attire, the better dressed among them wore lounge suits, the less well-dressed, shirts with ties and slacks. Odd jackets seemed to be shunned by them for whatever reason.

I once asked my stepson if he were among the best-dressed men in his fraternity. "No," he replied--and I gave a start--"I am tne best dressed"--mostly thanks to my influence...and generosity.

Frat kids from what kind of Universities?

The Cali frat boy uniform is a tank top, shorts, high socks, vans and a backwards cap...

I mean I'm a current Sigma Chi and I can easily say that the majority of the "style" mentioned above is not what Ive seen/know. I mean cargo shorts are a huge NO... I mean I know SMU literally banned them and I know at a lot of schools if your wearing cargo shorts someone is going to put bricks in your pockets.
I would say the typical look is more the ralph lauren, lacoste, southern tide, vineyard vines etc. I know no one in our house that owns anything by Abercrombie, hollister etc. I think the majority of the looks I see are pretty SF approved...
