Love the WIP line. They are generally the sub-label used for collaboration with other brands like the ongoing Junya Watanabe and the recently released Sacai.

They also come out with some jackets and coats pulling from past models.

This one is from a hunting coat during the 90s I believe that was released a year or two ago:

I own both of these guys. Are they as durable as anything from the main line actual workwear side of the brand? No but that’s the beauty of WIP. It’s fashion oriented but you still get some things like triple stitching and gusseted shoulders.

I have a Carhartt Santa Fe coat that needs a new home. It's a medium and in the early 90s, Carhartt seemed to cut their clothing toward the smaller side. This is more like a larger small or a smaller medium, if that makes sense. It was a gift from my dad in about 1992 and just doesn't fit me now. I never wore it a lot actually, so the wear is on the light side for a 30 year old jacket. If you are interested, I can send pics, just PM me. I really need to thin down my closet and this is a logical start. I have other items that I want to sell as well, but the B&S section is more geared toward dress and higher end items than what I am currently selling. Will put it on CL locally as well, I am not interested in eBay or the other selling sites, I'm not a high volume seller.

What's your opinion on the Carhartt WIP line in general?
Love the brand (Carhartt & Carhartt WIP). Best $85 I ever spent was on a dark blue Carhartt "arctic duck" coat in 1996 (28 yrs old). I still have it and wear it. It looks great worn in and faded and fits like a glove now. I have two newer versions of the same coat, a black "full swing" coat, and a dark blue "Detroit" jacket that I use for rough work. Also have a couple of their fire resistant welders shirts and 5-6 pairs of the double knee carpenter pants that I have altered (removed excess pockets & loops and slimmed down in the seat). I love them all.

WIP has more stylish/slim cuts, plays with different colors/dyes/pre faded, and as mentioned does collaborations. Love the winter/heavier twill "Master" Shirt they put out a few years ago and I bought all three colors they put out.

I usually stick to regular Carhartt line for the jackets/coats and double knee carpenter pants as the WIP versions are usually the same thing but different/non standard colors/dyes and 2-3x the price. I always size down to a M from a L on the regular line and usually get some of the extra bulk altered out/slimmed down.

For WIP it is true to size. WIP puts out some different cuts/models of coats and vests and I own 3-4 of them. I also own a WIP chore jacket that is similar to the regular line, but in a different light grey color, with soft organic cotton, that has the arctic vs. the blanket lining, which I don't care for as much.

Everything Carhartt & WIP put out is built to LAST. I think mainline Carhartt is not as followed because it is so relatively inexpensive. It is utilitarian, pretty indestructible, and look great IMO. Love the USA heritage.

It is definitely a cult brand once you get into it.

I'd love to track down that hunting coat!
