Red DB Blazer - Worth Salvaging?

Alright gents:

I bought this for a song last year during my quest for a regatta blazer. I know it's ridiculous - it's red, has huge lapels, and reminds me of something Gene Rayburn would wear during his Match Game days - so you don't have to tell me that. It's a 4x2 right now, but I have 2 extra buttons and could make it a 6x2.

But I do I need some outsider input as I consider whether it's worth taking to the tailor to alter.

Possible considerations:
1) Narrow lapels
2) Add white piping/tape around the lapels for legit regatta blazer look
3) 6x2 it
4) Leave as is, except for some suppression and sleeve shortening
5) Burn it

Please forgive the small-timer home repair in progress in the third picture.

Without further ado:

I like your style, but I think this blazer is too much. Personally, I would easily wear most of the stuff you wear, but not this.

It's preposterous but perfect for certain occasions when F-U is the only appropriate posture.

- Shorten sleeves.

- Shorten hem/jacket.

- Leave buttons and lapels as they are.

- Please only wear in the summer, on the weekends, without a necktie.

With respect, this jacket is deliciously obscene or obscenely delicious but it completely kills you in it.
It's already overpowering you. The alterations you are pondering will only make it look more costumey.
You'll end up looking like a 6ft tall Keebler cookie elf. I would let it go.

I wish I were 6ft tall. I understand the complete costume of this jacket as is. I know that further alterations will result in more costume. I can live with that.
