My philosophy on buying - Page 3

If you finance a watch you are a fucking retard and need to re-evaluate your priorities in life. Also that watch is fucking ugly and tells time no better than a Seiko. "Real watch" bullshit is so fucked.

Apart from the word "Rolex" I dont like your watch at all, i think its pretty ugly. Here's my philosophy on buying: Buy what you want, when you want it, if you can afford it. Pretty straight forward.

I'm assuming it's purely a troll acct but regardless of that guy's post In the future? Watches are completely useless and purely fashion accessories or in this guy's case (and many MC people's case as well) status symbols. No one needs a watch anymore. You used to before clocks were in every car, bus, subway, in every room of every building, on your TV, microwave and alarm clocks not to mention computers, ipods and phones that people have on them 24/7 I mean if people can admit that they just buy them to show off and stuff that's cool, but i know people irl who buy nice watches and try to justify it as a watch being handy or something. Even more pathetic than the people who buy watches as status symbols.

Most watches are 'at hand' when worn, certainly they are handy when it comes to finding out the time. Your phone/microwave and atomic clock is not always right there, at your wrist.

Yeah not having to reach into my pocket to tell the time is def worth $10k

Honestly, there aren't a lot of times where i'm not somewhere where a clock is visible on a subway, in my car, in every room of every building. The only time i can think of is walking along a street (and if you're in a city chances are you can see a outdoor clock visible somewhere). Then you just check your phone/mp3player. Watches are most certainly completely outdated in terms of being functional. They're just mechanical bracelets now. Easily the least "timeless" thing discussed on this forum (ironically enough)

I've no strong feelings on this matter, but can't see why there being multiple options for telling time would make one of those options, outdated, but carry on.

Because a watch only exists to tell time in a world where: a) there are clocks everywhere b) most people (especially people who can afford a rolex or something) carry a phone that tells the time and does a lot more They are just ornamental pieces now. That's fine, but people who argue against that in a vain attempt to masculinize their jewelry obsession are pathetic.

I like your pretty metal bracelet. Though real men don't wear fancy jewelry for purely ornamental reasons. Kinda girly imo. It's cool if you don't mind being a little fem for wearing jewelry though. More people on this forum need to be like that

Which I carry in my pocket of my mostly thight pants and I cant, easily reach, when speedbiking to catch a train or meet an appointment and when I do can't easily read, due to sun or rain. Of course I'd only need one good watchand I have several. This makes all but one outdated, I've just deduced.

Phones are a pathetic replacement for watches, you have to take them out, unlock them, search for the time display, relock them, then put them back in your pocket, what a horrible waste of time and effort when you could swivel your wrist 30 degrees to see what time it is. And clocks aren't necessarily everywhere particularly if you are outdoors, even when walking around the city there aren't many places to look for clocks, many places don't care to display them especially if they intend on people 'losing track of the time' and spending more time shopping than they otherwise would, like casinos do (maybe that's just me being cynical but I'm sure the idea went through at least some marketing douchebag's head).
