Fake perfumes on ebay???

Thread Starter
Hi everyone
I want to buy some perfumes through ebay and am not sure if imitations are sold on there. Some of the prices seem pretty low......which is good if its the real perfume, but could that be a red flag for knockoff perfume? Anyone ever receive fake scents? And could anyone tell me what to look for if fakes are sold?
Most of the perfume sellers on ebay have a really good profile with thousands positive feedback. So it's kinda hard to know if their products are fake.

Thanks a lot.

There's alot of fakes on eBay. Personally, I would just stick with Amazon for colognes

there are plenty of fakes, mostly from Creed and Chanel as examples. They might also be real, but old, so you don't know the history of what they've been through. Online prices are always about 20-50% cheaper online, so it's no surprise they're cheaper. Some ebay stuff is fine. Look for New stuff (vintage is a gamble), and NIB, plus make sure they have a return policy. Also, use toolhaus.org to check their negatives... I'd suggest instead to go with online discounters like scentiments, Fragrancex, or fragrancenet, or parfum1, etc. Generally they're safe. Places like Amazon are probably the safest choice. Lots more discussion on Basenotes.net

I haven't received any fakes (to my knowledge), but I have had a few that turned bad. That said, if I'm buying ebay then it's very likely something obscure that no one would think to fake.

Chanel and Creed are the two most-commonly faked houses.

I bought one that smelled like pure gasoline. It was quite the formidable scent.

You need to be careful with Ebay, seriously. Many times they are imitations and don't have the proper parts to it. Hell, some don't even use parts from the proper animals.
