Please advise regarding restoration of leather messenger

Attached is a photo of my BR messenger. I'm curious as to the best way to bring the original color back where it has already faded (only a few months old). I tried a bit of obenauf's but as you can see from the photo, it has done virtually nothing to improve the color. I'm thinking I will try a brown shoe polish, but I wanted to get the opinions here first. Any ideas and replies are greatly appreciated.

Bought a shitty leather messenger from a shitty store, forget it and buy a better one later IMO. I made the same mistake. Otherwise, yeah, brown shoe polish will probably work.

Yeah, I know I know. I had a 50% coupon so I figured it would be worth it. I was mistaken, but I guess shoe polish will suffice for now. I do plan on getting a customhide briefcase at the end of this year (which is convenient since this one will probably be a uniform bright orange by then).

You might want to try using a dye or scuff cover-up instead of polish. I would think that polish might rub off on you, while the dye would soak in better. Maybe try some brown shoe sole edge dressing.

yeah, I'm worried about that. I might try the edge dressing first
