2 general questions

Thread Starter
hello. my first post here. im not really an expert yet in style by any means, so i thought i'd ask something general first

1. polo shirts. wear them with or without undershirts? share your opinions and preferences

2. i tend to sweat a lot. what can i do to make it not to obvious when i wear solid color dress/casual shirts

1. I generally think they look best without. But I'll wear an undershirt with light-colored polos just to keep them looking crisp (and prevent laundry staining).

2. An undershirt is really your best option. That and choosing light, open weaves to minimize the heat.

Welcome aboard!

Sir,

I have had so much trouble with the laundry making the colors go all funky on light-colored polos! Have you found that wearing an undershirt really helps? I would be curious to know the science behind that. But thanks for the tip. Aesthetically, undershirts and polos aren't my favorite, but hey...

If I don't want anyone to see my undershirt I'll wear a v-neck or, I'll just wear two colors that go well together.

But, when I wear a thong, I try to wear the brightest color so it really stands out of my pants!!

Forget the t-shirt and wear a clean each time.

agree with Tck13. except that bit about the thong.

i think a white undershirt (v or crew depending on the situation) is great for protecting what you're wearing over it from sweat, BO, whatever.

Depends on what you mean by funky. It won't help with the fading, of course, but prevents discoloration under the arms. (I just had to retire a favorite T-shirt for that reason.)

A looser fit may help as well. IMHO, undershirts don't look good under polos. With dress shirts, by all means wear an undershirt (nervously waiting for Mr.Kabbaz)

*sigh* I'm pretty sure I need to spend some time with the washing machine talking through its problems this weekend. I had a feeling you weren't talking about avoiding the problem I had. Basically what I'm having is big stains that look like bleach all over my light-colored polos and other clothes. It drives me nuts because it ruins all the clothes I love, and I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place: walk around with a bleach stain in the middle of my shirt (It's not subtle enough to look just like color variation.) or throw it away and spend the money on a new one. The weirdest thing is that I don't even put bleach on my laundry (There's no need.).

If you're not mixing the laundry detergent thoroughly with water before adding the clothes, this could be causing problems, especially if you use powdered detergent and it doesn't dissolve first. Just a thought.

I agree, always put in the soap (preferably liquid) then fill the washing machine with water before putting in the clothes - sure you might get your hands wet when pushing the clothes down into the water, but it ensures the soap is more evenly distributed throughout the water and not soaked into a few articles of clothing.

Back to the original questions, if you sweat a lot, it's better to get sweat stains on your undershirts than on more expensive polos. I don't like the look though, but I also don't sweat a lot.

You know, if it really stands out of your pants, you probably don't need to worry about the color of the thong.
