Silly lad, everyone knows the true standard of intelligence is ones knowledge of H.P. Lovecraft.
I recently bonded with a retired physics professor from Bennington College over our mutual affection for HPL. Apparently it was very difficult to find his work in the 1950s and early '60s, until the rediscovery of HPL, Tolkein etc during the pyschedelic era.
