If a wider tie (to be exact, wider than 3" but otherwise a standard size of 3.5") fits your frame well, then it will look fine with the Fitzgerald. The lapels on that suit are not extremely skinny or wide where it would be noticeable. In fact, ALL my ties are 3.25"-3.5" and I have a couple Fitzgerald suits I wear them with.

Use your judgement, there is mathematical relationship twixt tie and and suit, merely good judgement. If you cannot see what is right.....

There is another school of thought which is that the lapel is a secondary consideration.

Instead look to your body size.

If you are tall a wider tie will work well and so on...

I suppose it will also depend on the pattern on the tie, if there is one, as some can create the illusion of width.

I've adopted the Fitz for all of my new suits. 3" or less looks best, been getting lots of complements.

I agree with David Hober. I have a wider frame and 3.5 inch ties look best on me, including when wearing my Fitzgerald suits.
