Oh, and I forgot to mention: Love the boots with the suit, Soph. Very John Steed. Nice bag too.

You can get insoles to tighten them up, also help with odor, comfort and wear. I went up a half size, and with the insoles, they fit me snug. I agree with you that loose chelseas are big trouble as there are no laces.

-Thanks, I really dig your black cap toe shoe find. How are those working out?

Well, since I am very self centered and always want the attention on me, I shall post what I wore today 9/1/06. I knew the weather was going to be dreary in NYC today, but given that it was the last business day of summer, I decide to go full blown summer, linen sportsjacket, creme pants, purple shirt and boots.

Jacket and shirt are David Chu, pants RLPL and boots & pocket square are Zegna, which I think you also have a pair Soph. Pics are bad, sorry.
Edit: Would like to mention that this is after a day's work, three hours at the Barneys warehouse sale, dinner and drinks afterwords and a one hour trip home.

Soph,

That ensemble looks very sharp.

Ed,

Stop that. My eyes are strained as it is...

Where do you find RM Williams dress boots in the U.S.?

You look very sharp. I think Cream.offwhite is the perfect linen trouser. Much better than white unless you are at a resort. You pull it off quite nicely.
I have two pairs of Zegna Ankle Nap. Co. boots.

Ben Silver.com Overpriced though. They do have the two classic models. But bootsonline.com has the french veal and buckle boots, and custom program.

Nice look Ed. I don't know if it's the blurry pic but does the jacket have no side pockets? (I see the patch breast pocket) - it looks great and I love those details for a casual sport jacket.

Thanks, patch pockets all around and side vents. I looked a lot better this morning

I feel like ed's jacket should be spun around a stick and eaten... sorry, had to. Soph: I wasn't here a year ago, but I can safely say I'd hit that.

If anyone wants RM's I'm happy to go shopping and shipping......Not sure if I'd be doing anyone a favour or not, however (not sure what the value's like getting them online). [PM if interested]. Both suits look great on both of you. Stunning statements! You are both testaments to this forum and it's kind nature of people. --Wade

Thanks, Wade. Since you're on-site, as it were, have you seen/worn kangaroo-leather shoes/boots in person? I'm wondering how they compare in terms of thickness, suppleness, finish, etc. I confess I really would have no idea what to expect from kangaroo leather.

TIA,
grim

Hey Grim, Unfortunatley I'm not the man to answer those questions for you. I do not own anything made from Kangaroo leather. I'm happy to do some recon for you guys on anything if it'd help (inc photos). I would _imagine_ that 'roo leather would be a bit softer/supple then traditional leather.... --Wade

The first look would be very sharp if not for the rumpled sleeves and pants. The tie is too sharp for work, though. It's the kind of tie stars wear on the red carpet. A darker tie would be better.

The second look is very well done. Judging by the color - other details are blurred out - the shoes might be too formal.
