Best running shoes for flat feet? - Page 2

I´ve tried nearly every brand (e.g. Super Feet, Pedag, etc.) for my flat feet and the Powerstep Pinnnacle is, for me, the best orthotic by far. It´s recommended by many podiatrists and works with most shoes. The best shoes for my flat feet have been Asics and New Balance (in that order). Of course, your feet may vary.

Pearl Izumi Syncro Guide III is your friend. I am an overpornator and found these to be the perfect shoes.

A little off on a tangent, but do any of you guys do exercises to help with flat feet? I've found doing a lot of flexing your toes upward as high as you can followed by scrunching them downwards as hard as you can repeatedly has helped a lot. Also doing ankle hopsbarefoot on the balls of your feet not letting your heel lower at all upon impact has helped.

I swear by Asics, and I'm almost flat footed. My father is the same, and he ran several big marathons wearing Asics (Tiger back then) as well. He told me that most of the runners he went against who were flat-footed thought Asics offering was the most comfortable.

I, like some in this thread like to use vibram fivefingers for running. I have flat feet. For me, the vibrams have trained me to stay on my toes and absorb less impact with my heels. They've also made me much more conscious of my flat feet because its so much more noticeable when wearing vibrams...

I wear five fingers and I have extremely flat and wide feet (like a hobbits). Regular trainers were a pain to use for long periods. Surprisingly these worked wonders on me and after a couple runs my shin and knee pains have disappeared.

Another vote for the Beast. I have flat narrow feet and they are perfect. I was also fitted at a running store.

By far the best solution for anyone flat-footed is to get custom orthotics from a qualified podiatrist and get a running shoe without any correction. I have extremely flat feet, use the asics nimbus with orthotics and run 4-5 times a week without any problem or pain.
