Best BCAA supplement

I'm finally allowed to start working out again, albeit lightly. On top of my protein powder I want to add in some BCAA's. I used to take pills but don't know if that's the preferred method any more. Any breakthroughs or new supplements that are worthwhile?

i can't imagine popping 20 pills for 20g of BCAA. just go instantized powder form, usually offered in 2:1:1, but occasionally 4:1:1, and now 8:1:1 (USPL)

Why would you need 20 grams per day? I thought the best amount was somewhere between 5 and 10? Powder is a good idea. Any good sources?

What advantage does BCAA have over, say, a glass of whey?

Unless youre training fasted, absolutely none as far as body composition/performance issues are concerned. 1+g/lb of protein provides all the BCAAs you need. http://www.leangains.com/2008/01/bcaa-roundtable.html I would go with Xtend or Purple Wrath.

Just started Xtend's lemonade flavor a little over a week ago. First time using BCAA's and can't tell much of a difference yet, although I generally eat pretty clean and am doing a scoop of protein power with skim milk pre (fasted) workout.

Why are powdered BCAA's preferred to those in pill form?
I'm not sure if they're preferred, but consuming BCAA's is probably easier via powder form. Easy to just throw in a shaker bottle and go. If you're doing the pills (which I have), that's eight to 12 pills you're possibly throwing down during the peri-nutrition window.

I'm already consuming a lot of pills (mostly fish oil and biotin), so more pills can be a bit of a hassle.

it's easier to drink them peri workout.

Just out of curiosity, why so much biotin?

Not much at all (just one pill per day). By "lots of pills," I was referring mostly to the fish oil, which I go through like crazy (probably 10/day).

Ouch. How much are you taking? I go through 5 of my high concentrate Costco stuff and its already annoying.

Ten grams. It's not a huge hassle, since I've been taking three or four at a time the last couple of months since I fast two-thirds of the day and want to keep caloric intake as close to zero as possible during the fast.
