Additionally if you want to maintain a strong spine (and reduce compression), you can with stuff like Yoga and palates.
Astronauts often grow a few inches when in space due to no compression on the spine. So does traction, but really that's an extreme, and I don't think there's any evidence of it being a lasting process.
