Would you consider having sex with a girl with HPV?

OK so I should probably begin this thread with the specific accounts of what occurred to me last night. It was a close friend's, who happens to be a girl, 21st birthday party and the night began barhopping from place-to-place in an attempt to get this girl as wasted as possible. Among the birthday girl's associates is a girl I have been attempting to hook up with for a long while (I would consider posting pics knowing how skeptical the SF audience could be, however my SN is honestly too close to my real name for me to do this with confidence. All that need to be said about her appearance is she is a white girl with a gigantic ass)

To make the story short, after the birthday girl passes out and I show my sensitive side by escorting her home, said associate and I are alone in my car. After a little flirting, we end up making out and getting hot and bothered. Subsequently, she mentions to me a "contract" she made with herself not to have sex especially while her judgment is impaired to limit the spread of HPV she contracted. She even mentioned the risk of me giving future sexual partners cancer by having sec with her. I found this whole "contract" thing suspect especially since she broke an earlier mentioned contract of never driving drunk. However, the threat of giving future sexual partners cancer and even knowing the girl I was planning to have sex with had such a serious STD turned me off big time so I ended the night simply dropping her off and rubbing one out at 5 a.m.

This whole situation brings up a couple of questions I wish to pose to the SF community:

1) Was her telling me she had HPV simply code for, "I am not interested in you and I have let this go way too far?

2) Would you ever consider having sex with a girl with HPV? From what my limited internet research tells me 90% of men with HPV are asymptomatic with only a few cases of men getting genital warts, penile cancer, or annal cancer. However, all men with HPV are carriers of the virus and risk infecting other partners.

HPV is everywhere. If you have sexual contact with more than one girl in your life there is a very good chance you will come in contact with it.

Obviously, it is too late for her to be inoculated and, as the website implies, even for men the vaccine is mainly for those who have never been sexually active. I fortunately don't fall into this category.

If you have sex there are two realities that you must accept:
  • 90 per cent of sexually active people have some form of oral herpes
  • 80 per cent of sexually active people will catch at least one strain of HPV during their life
Learn to live with it or become celibate.

Her saying that to you meant, "I want you to fuck me, but if you get hpv it's your fault, not mine - since I told you about it".

What's the incidence rate? it's really high. Obama will use this to suck more money out of us I'm sure.

btw - condoms do no prevent hpv from spreading. bummer.

Let's make this clear:

HPV= Human Papillomavirus. Very, very common. 80% of people get it at some stage in their lives. It CAN cause genital warts for a short time. The higher risk strains are also associated with cervical cancer. That is why there is a vaccine.

The infection is usually cleared by itself without treatment. HPV is usually nothing to worry about.

Herpes Simplex virus (i think type II) - Causes genital warts, and is a latent recurrent infection - meaning you can't get rid of it, and it recurrs whenever your immune system is compromised (e.g. stressed etc). No cure.

Both of you are candidates for gardasil. As posted above, there are several different strains of HPV. Gardasil protects against 4 of them. So she probably has contracted one of the strains, you may or may not have contracted any of the strains if you are sexually active.

From the website:

"If you're a young adult who is already sexually active, you may still benefit from GARDASIL. That's because even if you have been exposed to HPV, you may not have been exposed to the types of the virus covered by this HPV vaccine. GARDASIL could still help protect you against the relevant HPV types to which you haven't been exposed."

HPV has also been implicated in oral cancers...wonder why?

Both answers wrong.

Matt, chances are you have HPV. I might do myself. It's really nothing to worry about.

If it really bugs you OP, get the vaccine first.
