The CPU I've noticed is taxed especially when multitasking, and when you have a large media library. I've been seeing more lags recently after 4.2, and I'm not sure if that's related. I know people have been claiming that 4.2 makes their iPad faster, but it's made mine a bit sluggish. I also don't like how they've moved the orientation lock switch away from the side to the screen. The mute switch also doesn't behave very logically --- it makes sense for a phone because you want to mute your phone's ring, but it doesn't make sense for a tablet computer. Anyway, I'm hoping for a doubling of everything when they release the next gen iPad. More storage and memory alone would make it a compelling upgrade for me. --Andre
I've also noticed the sluggishness in loading pages and pics with 4.2. It's frustrating.

+1
There wasn't anything positive in 4.2 for me. I can live without the App folders and stuff like that but I miss the lock slider and I have the feeling that surfing is slower/laggy. What a pitty it doesn't have a task killer like for Android where you can auto-kill apps after a while of not using them to free up memory.

My wifi signal also keeps dropping more after the 4.2 update. Not sure if that is just my imagination

I've been having that problem too

My uncle offered to get me one for Christmas. I declined. I spent a few hours using his ipad and basically concluded that it was pointless to have when I already have a 3g smartphone (droidx). If it was more capable than any of the newest smartphones I might be interested. The only advantage is the larger screen and good battery life.

Huh, I was being serious. It seems like a redundant device in it's current form.

Not your imagination, it happens to me, too.

I agree about the redunancy. It does so little that my iPhone doesn't already do that I couldn't justify spending another $500.

no untrue unless your a 5 year old girl

it weighs so little so weight isnt an issue. however now that games are being more sophisticated and often times requiring more than one hand its awkward to hold the device and play at same time. even on lap or on table it hurts neck after awhile

yeah but if you look at all the patents apple submits, 95% dont go anywhere. either trying to beat competitors or just for experimental purposes or just for sh!t$ and giggles.

disclosure: im a huge apple fanboy

I agree - if I had some sort of smartphone, I wouldn't have bothered. A friend has both and I'm noticing he doesn't seem to use the iPad much anymore.

I know. I can make calls on an ipad and i enjoy reading lengthy books and surfing the web on an iphone too. Sometimes they both do everything my laptop does, which coincidentally did everything my Atari did which was just a redundant copy of my Commodore Vic 20. Unfortunately (or fortunately) not everyone shares these peculiar preferences of mine and sales of both products can attest to that
