Messenger Bags?

Looking for something both stylish and comfortable/practical for commuting to and from work/school.
I've been using a backpack for a while now and hate that it ends up making my entire back soaked with sweat. I don't carry a ton of stuff, just a textbook or two, notebook, phone, calculator, jacket..

Was checking out the Will Leather bags in Barney's Co-Op today. They seem nice, but I'm not sure how comfortable they'd be while riding.
