As far as concealment while being elegantly attired goes, I am a fan of the Barami Hip Grip (
www.baramihipgrip.com). This system has a shelf extending from the right grip panel that permits a smallish revolver to be worn inside the pants with the grip shelf hooked over the belt or waistband. A virtue of it is that it permits the gun to be worn on any position on the waist--behind the hip, small of back, crossdraw (as when driving). I have them on a couple of my revolvers, but my favorite is a 3-inch square-butt Smith & Wesson Model 36 Chiefs. The hammer spur has been docked, and it has been plated with Robar's NP3. I was experimenting with it under one of my W.W. Chan blazers yesterday evening, and it remained invisible no matter what posture I assumed.
I hadn't shot it for some time, so I took it to the range this afternoon. With Speer 125-grain Gold Dot +Ps, it recoiled rather smartly, but it was far from unbearable, and I fired some decent groups double action at realistic ranges. Although I realize that there are much better options than a .38 +P from a 3-inch barrel, it is still far from contemptible. I just don't trust the reliability of the really miniaturized full-power auto pistols.
