Perhaps we are the lucky ones. Enjoy while it lasts.

Or it was the generation of the American Baby Boomer.

To have money in pocket and live in Paris at the turn of the 19th /20th century. Survive the war and then on to the roaring 20's. Seems like everybody who was anybody at least passed through Paris then.

Crassus was a dope. He let himself get tricked by the Parthians. They tried the same thing on Antony, but he saw through it.

Yeah, I know he only ran as one so he could get elected. Either way, my principle point was that it was a much ado about nothing presidency. My republic retort btw, was more towards the current think by some (all?) of the neo-cons that we should be living in a world that is more like the 50's than 2007.

What? I thought the neo-cons were hell bent on world conquest. Now you're just confusing me.

I'm boring,

I choose to live in the present.
I can critique the past and
not worry about the future

I would love to live in the 1770's around the time of the Revolution. Many of the men of that time I really admire. How hard it must be to create a government.

You can conquer the world and turn it into the 50's as well!

I always love these hip, snappy little historical simplications. Reminds me of a conversation in "Day After Tommorow" about Nietzche.

Personally I'm more partial to Goethe:

All theory, dear friend, is gray, but the golden tree of life springs ever green.
