Any Thoughts on Corneliani Sport Coats?

I believe they make some of the Ralph Lauren sport coats, Italian, fully canvased. What are people's thoughts on them?

I would expect the QB of the Dallas Cowboys to wear bespoke sport coats.

Love them. I'm an "athletic guy"...and Corneliani is the only shoulder that fits me. The models they make for RLP are half canvased, but still very high quality, imo. Just picked up a new RLP MTM suit @ 25% off.

90% of my tailored stuff is Corneliani. I swear I swear by them.

This whole half/full canvassed thing is quite misleading to new members. In any case, the Corneliani RL models are fused through the fronts, but there is canvassing in the chest, lapels, and shoulders. On the latter point, little threads eventually stick out from the shoulders of my RL jackets after some wear, similar to how they do on my Isaia/Oxxford etc. I agree with the above, they are very high quality, and moreso than other "half" canvassed jackets. Excellently suited for an athletic shape.

Which is good news for me because I cant wear RLPL due to the fact I look like I am wearing football pads under my jacket, ha. I look even worse in RLBL. Any thoughts on Corneliani mtm? I'd like to do a tweed sport coat for the winter. I could go bespoke with Rizzo, but Corneliani fits me like a glove...

When I said 90% of m stuff I meant Corneliani for Polo. Perhaps the Polo guidelines dictated the soft shoulders, but I am thoroughly pleased with what I have. Of course, YMMV

After reading all about how full canvas is superior, I settled on Polo by Corneliani as the suits and coats fit me OTR and are of acceptable construction.

Though they don't contain the same level of canvassing as the mainline Corneliani suits, they still have far more actual internal tailoring than other "half" or "partially" canvassed suits. Mine have held up exceptionally well alongside fully canvassed garments.

It may be strange, but I'm actually afraid to buy Corneliani branded clothing, just because of the fact that my Polo stuff is so awesome. Go figure.

Corneliani has a number of different fits, none of which fit me the same way Polo does. The cut for Polo has one of the softest shoulders available OTR, and the jackets have a lightness that is notably absent from many competitors. I imagine it to resemble the old Brooks coats people go nuts about over here, with the exception that it's darted. I've heard rumors that Polo MTM is higher quality than RTW, but you'd have to ask someone at the store.

Corneliani's "Spencer" cut has a softer shoulder than some of the others. I have a "Spencer" model suit, and while I quite like it, there's a notable difference from my Polo suit and sportcoats. It's longer, with broader shoulders, and feels heavier, though the cloths seem to be of relatively similar weight. Quality is slightly higher on the Corneliani.

I've no experience with Corneliani MTM, but if it fits you like a glove, I'd just buy OTR.

The quality is a bit higher on the branded clothing. Suit jackets have a full canvass, some additional details, and on occasion, slightly better fabric. Pants have pick stitching details and a felled/pleated waistband. Of course, the retail price is higher too.

Is that the Polo blue label suits/coats? I've seen some of the Corneliani branded stuff, OTR, with unpadded shoulders FWIW.

Yes, Polo 'blue label.' I believe it's just referred to as Polo these days. I've seen unstructured Corneliani garments, but they aren't business suits and blazers as is available from RL. In addition, the Spencer model coats have very light padding, but it's still more structure than the Polo cuts. The typical Corneliani cut has a very strong shoulder.

In addition to agreeing with the comments made by other posters, you might also consider the Corneliani ID line for something cool/ different, especially for upcoming autumn season. I was really torn when last at Saks, but didn't end up buying a spectacular ID corduroy jacket with lots of suede accents and zip-out front liner. Awesome stuff; here are a few examples just so you can get an idea:

Yup. Check Guido's mostexerenet tumblr - he has a Polo jacket he wears, with non-existent shoulders. Looks great on him. Caveat: FWIW, the stuff made for the Asian markets is cut completely differently.
