Mac guys: Any way to get all web sites centered horizontally on screen?

just use smaller/thinner sized browser windows then. its not like you do word processing in Word/Pages/Open Office with one whole page stretched out to fit a 20"+ screen.

then again you might be one of those people who actually does write documents/email in browser screens that take up the whole screen (i see a lot of older people do this). my advice then is to sit further back from the screen.

exactly.

Just make the window smaller and place it where you want it. It will reappear at that size and location next time you open it. No idea why you would want it maximised anyhow...are you a recent Switcher?

I've got one like this. Its hard to sit at a desk and see everything.

Make the "window" if you will...medium sized and put it on the right side of the screen. That way the important titles are right in front and you aren't moving your head left to right to left to read. I know it sounds silly but it works better.

well then you can just open two regular sized windows and then have like 10 smaller windows of simultaneous Appreciation vids going then.

That is what I have. Unless I'm streaming netflix or doing multitasking...I use my macbook pro. It's nice but like i said...to sit at desk with that thing for more than an hour will give you a headache.

I've been doing that but it just seems so...lame. I mean, I've got all this real estate, why not take advantage..

+1. And I'm only using the 21.5. TV looks great though.

well you take advantage of it by having your IM windows visible at the same time, your email, word processor, whatever, and jumping around between them without having to minimise them...that's how most of us drive our Macs anyhow...

I don't own one, but I know what he means...Jon...go sit eight inches in front of your TV and watch some of those Idol episodes you tivo-ed for an hour, see how you feel.

+1

I had major issues with the windows when I first switched to a mac, but now can't stand having everything maxed out. It'll only take a bit to adjust as long as you don't try to "fix" it.

It's also worth it to set your corners up.

Congratulations you now have a mac and a big, wide screen

now go learn to use non-maximized windows.

I must be a glutton for punishment because I read SF on my 22" monitor at home with my Opera window maximized...

I'm not a big fran of resizing windows unless I'm doing some SERIOUS multitasking, which I rarely do at home anymore. It's usually just 10-20 tabs of my browser (this is when it's nice to have screen real estate so I can see what the tabs actually are), Winamp, IM Client, uTorrent in the background etc.

It is a differance in OS design...I find on windows that I prefer to have everything maximized or it just feels wrong (this is probably why apple does things like have only a single menu at the top of the screen that is used for whatever app is currently selected).
On the macs with a big screen, I have gotten used to the concept of organization being application-centric (as opposed to windows which is aptly window-centric)...I still use tabs in browsers but I have gotten used to having each window sit at its "ideal" size. For instance, on a really wide monitor, I find it easier to read websites in a smaller window since it breaks text into smaller lines (and usually matches what the designer had in mind).
