Bonfanti

a few friends and i were in milan last month and i decided to pay a visit to an old friend giancarlo bonfanti.

for those who may have not heard of bonfanti, he is a small manufacturer of shirting fabrics that supplies to some of the finest makers around. he is linked to the more famous riva by way of family. when the founder of the cotton manufacturing passed, the firm was divided between bonfanti and riva, with bonfanti taking some of the very old silk weaving (converted to cotton) machinery.

i thought you may like to have a look inside:

the spiderweb, spinning the cotton yarn onto the bobbins:

some of the old machinery:

a jacquard 'programme':

poplins in production:

some fabrics:

a linen cotton etamine perfect for summer:

For the unwashed masses living in the US and using local US shirt makers...it would be nice if Bonafanti's cloths were available...especially via telephonic sales using credit cards..

The Flying Dutchman strikes again! Great pics, I am currently on a Grande & Rubinelli kick but I may have to check out Bonfanti.

What's his contact information? And what's his pricing like? Similar to Riva?

Does Bonafanti speak English? Does he communicate in English via e-mail? If the answer is yes to both, then I'll ask my shirtmaker...Freddy Vandecasteele (who posts on this forum) to do so.

I just don't know how to reach Bonafanti

At one point Giancarlo Bonfanti himself posted on the London Lounge when he made some cloths for LL:

He appears to understand English and be comfortable with selling over the Internet, and there is an email address in the first post.
