NBA 2016-2017 Season Thread - Page 500

never said they destroyed them. it simply isn't true. Miami blew them out once, and got blown out once, the rest were close.

the Clippers and Lakers series, that was destruction. like John Holmes reaming some young hopeful on the casting couch
post #7487 of 27236
i dunno. clippers lakers weren't really destruction. esp lakers had a few really really really close games

Ya, like having a huge advantage inside and maybe pounding the ball down low. Did it in the first quarter and, you guessed it, baskets, then for some reason they decided to pay PassBall instead of BasketBall and kept getting caught up in their own dramas turning the ball over time and time again. Turnovers is what lost them the game.

Indiana, while talented, got rather frustrating to watch:

  • How they didnt attack Turiaf and Anthony looking for fouls is beyond me
  • How they didnt pound the ball inside even with the second team makes no sense, even the second team could score in there
  • How they didnt attack Wade after he got 2 fouls makes no sense
  • Why did Barbosa stayed in the game after 2 mins... got posted with ease, lost the ball over and over
  • Hoisting up 3's 10 seconds into the shot clock
  • Watching Hibbert beg for the ball over and over again in the post and never see it
  • Waiting until the 3rd quarter to gang up on wade
  • Allowing too many easy baskets

Still believe this was Indiana's series to win, they didnt know what to do with the advantage.

yeah. i mean since bosh was out all they had to do was pass to hibbert and have him post up on a smaller less athletic turiaf, haslem, or anthony and rack up the points, but noooooo. they had to try and slash inside or shoot from the inside. -_- it was stupid too watch

or pass to david west and iso since he can pretty much score every time battier guards him

I freely admit to shitting bricks in that series because Indiana was a quality opponent and had a great chance to win the series. too bad the Spurs and Thunder didn't have the opportunity to test themselves against the same quality opposition tongue.gif

note to all the potential butthurt LA guys out there - I'm just messing with jet because he fucks with me every time the Heat win a series happy.gif

This seems to be a theme. Lakes, Indy and others throughout the year. I don't know what it is. Players not being coached to play inside out? The lack of fundimentals that comes from all the "sportcenter" developmental leagues (AAU, Nike and so on)?

It seems to me if the Lakers had thrown the ball down low on EVERY SINGLE POSSESSION (that and Pau would have been willing to shoot 10-15 footers or drive to the hoop taking Ibaka off the dribble all game rather than kicking the ball out) they would still be playing.

in fairness to Indiana, they did make a concerted effort to get the ball in the post. West had what, 16 points or so on the block in the first half? they do kind of have the big/big syndrome like the Lakers where one big guy has to stand around on offense because the other guy has the ball and needs space in the post.

Every player wants to be a starboi. Pau didnt want to get hit, he didnt really want the ball. Indiana didnt want to give Hibbert the ball, they all wanted to make the 3 finger signal when they launch 'em with 15 seconds left on the shot clock.

Fundamentals? How about hitting fucking FREE THROWS. Seems the only fundamental that gets worked on anymore is 3 point shooting.

As much as I cant stand that bitch Kobe, he has fundamentals and he came out from High School. He wanted to learn it. The rest don't. Guys like Griffin that can hardly do shit are stars because they can dunk off a lob.

Watch a game from the '84 Lakers - Celtics series and see what a massive difference there is to today. The game is faster today but the level of skill is a far cry.

Problem is that for Hibbert to be effective he needed to be fed. West could pick the ball up at the top of the key and back down. Hibbert cant. Dont laugh, but I actually felt sad for the guy watching him beg for the ball down low and be ignored over and over again.

I agree, why on earth cant 2 big guys find a way to play together. It seems a fucking center today cant make a move unless there is a total clear out. It makes me laugh out loud to see guys like Bynum apparently called a 'skilled' big man. Pfff. Compare him to Kareem or Olajuwon, Robinson.
olajuwan was so much fun to watch. bball was more focused on avoiding contact then whereas today it's either about powering through people, over people, or drawing contact for a foul
