Players just need to PLAY - that is what they are there for. There is absolutely no justification for any kind of flopping, especially in the playoffs - it completely ruins the game. If the game had went the other way and Melo flopped his way to 20 FTs at Lebron's expense, you woud have had a different opinion for sure.

damn right they were. and the refs did finally get it in line, to their credit. Chandler was out of control - this was his third straight offensive foul - and this call calmed him down. if "players just playing" is a 7-1 center leaning into a blindside hit with elbows and forearms into the upper back/neck area of a defenseless player, then i don't know what fucking sport you think this is. i already gave the benefit of the doubt by saying it was an offensive foul but not a flagrant one.

if flopping ruins the game, then it's already ruined - every single "superstar" in the NBA flops with the possible exception of Derrick Rose and Kevin Durant. yeah, it looks stupid, and we'll make fun of them for doing it, but it's become part of the game because it gets rewarded.

Man, the Wester Conference is so, so much better. Watching the 1-8 seeds play and it's actually good, competitive basketball.

especially after watching Ibaka cover ground, block everything in sight and gobble up rebounds - Spain might put this mofo in at SF (!!) beside the Gasols. that means we're in trouble since it looks like our frontcourt is going to be Chandler + Love + Melo/Lebron. (EDIT - Spain lost Rubio too, so neither squad is at full strength)
unless USABB leaves off a couple of swingmen and gives spots to KG and Bynum, but then, who gets the boot? maybe we can roll out:
4/5: Chandler, KG, Love, Bynum
3/2: Lebron, Melo, Kobe, Wade, Durant
1: Paul, Deron
who gets the 12th spot? Blake would be primarily an open court player in the FIBA format - useless. i don't like Westbrook and his Stephon Marbury approach to point-guarding. who else? Bosh? cue the Heat haters...

Boot 'Melo. I don't give a shit about how "his game translates well to international ball" or whatever, there is noway he should be getting min. in front of LeBron (as much as I can't stand the guy) or Durant.
I would much prefer Bosh in there.

lebron james = scottie pippen (knicks are too physical, help me please!!) wish we still had mason enforcing on the inside. players are too pampered today, lebron is such a baby too, he complains on every call that goes against him and every call that he thinks he does not get.

yeah, i do miss Mase. let's bring back Zo and PJ Brown so we can recapture the true Heat-Knicks rivalry. where's Charlie Ward when you need to bodyslam someone? biggrin.gif

say what you will, Knicks grabbed and shoved Lebron all the way up and down the floor, then hammered him when he went down the lane. didn't even slow him down. and then he flops on a couple of plays and suddenly he's a pussy - i'm not excusing the flops, but the anti-Lebron bias here is unreal. Blake Griffin flops every single game and he's still this thread's golden boy because he makes pretty alley-oops and didn't tear Cleveland's heart out on national TV.

what're you talking about

blake's gotten so much shit in this thread cuz of his lack of post game

also imo it's less of a anti lebron bias than it is a pro knicks bias

bynum with 9 blocks 12 rebounds 10 points and game's not over yet

ridiculous

So far four blowouts and two competitive games. Hopefully the two remaining today will even the odds.

I don't like players whining about no-calls (D-Wade is worse about that than LeBron, dude will just lay on the damn floor after a drive and cost his team fast break points), but the "physical play" of the era makes for boring damn basketball. I want to see an athletic game where skilled players are rewarded and get to take risks without having their skulls caved in by some guy who is only on the court because he's a bruiser.

me too. like jordan era basketball where it was more about evasion and reaction and grace than powering through things

Spurs does look scary but to be honest, the Lakers looked more dominant today. Not just saying that because I'm a Laker fan but the Lakes looked good out there. I haven't seen them play that well in a while. If Bynum can keep up this type of play and do not regress to being a lil kid, the Lakers might go pretty far.

Agree. But Spurs weren't hitting on all cylinders.

But they did neutralize Utah's front court.

I think we're looking at sweeps for both teams.

Considering the Spurs and Lakers won by 15 and the Grizzlies are up by 20 at halftime...not sure if serious.

That was a stupid move by Rondo, but he had plenty of reason to be upset. Those calls were BS.

that particular ref (young looking bald fair skinned african american dude) is a bit of a hothead. he really seems thin skinned and confrontational with players - i remember seeing him with other teams. when you notice a ref for being prissy and combative then its a bad thing for the nba.

its not an excuse though, because Doc Rivers/Celtics scouts actually scout those kinds of things. people who gamble on games extensively will search the stats on certain refs too.
