wtf?

they might as well bring back the dunk wheel and make this officially the worst dunk contest ever.

I like it that there are no more rounds, I want to see what everyone brought to the game and some are saving their best stuff for the end, but I wish that the judges still gets to vote. With Lin helping out Shumpert, he'd probably be a sure win unless someone else just blows someones mind.

That Mark Eaton gif is awesome. He's probably the best ever "really tall white guy" center (although you could argue Sabonis fit that mold too)

It turns out that Mark Eaton is a super interesting guy too with a prolific after NBA career.

Sadly, this is the only thing I have to add to this thread.

Geez, Heat planning to get Kaman. Should pretty much guarantee them the chip and considering Lebron is Sterns poster child, it'll likely happen.

Budinger dunk highlights. crackup[1].gif

srsly, i wtf'ed when i saw Budinger's name in the dunk contest list. i hope he pulls a birdman.

All jokes aside, Budinger has an insane vertical leap. I believe it was measured at 38in at the combine.

^^
that's fine, but his dunks are boring as shit. that video posted made me yawwwwwn.

I miss the days when Carter dunked in the comp and JRich messed shit up. now it's all these no-names entering in the comp and it fucking sucks.
He's no JRich or Vince, but he has more to offer than that video would lead you to believe. Skip ahead to say, the 45 second mark.

Saw that vid and wasn't that impressed at all. Plus judges there are dumb, they gave him 10's (I think it's his first dunk) in that dunk that was just outside of the paint, shit wasn't even that far and so uninspired.

Chase Budinger, Iman Shumpert, Paul George and Derrick Williams will participate in the 2012 Slam Dunk Contest during All-Star weekend.
No one is going to watch this event with these guys.

Slam contest hasnt been relevant in decades. Prly Spud Webb was the last thing of interest, maaaaaybe when V Carter hung on the rim by his elbow.

Sabonis was an animal. He was incredible before serious injuries. There was some game against the USA team where he fucking dismantled David Robinson.

I think the JRich contest was still pretty good, not much props or gimmicks. Still a showcase of dunking abilities and creativity. That Carter dunk comp is one of my favorites ever, his whole dunk set was just perfect and he did it all flawlessly. That elbow stuff dunk was probably the least exciting of all 5 of his dunks.
